Given that the UK cars are quoted as 187hp atfw stock, i would have thought I/H/E mods with a mapped ECU would perhaps give a healthy gain in power/torque given JDM cars are already 10BHP ahead as standard (Better header & map)
It all comes down to the dyno lottery. Over on itr-dc2, the consencus reckon on 145-155atw on a Dyno Dynamics RR for a stock DC2!, with gains on that for tuned cars.
It really would be great to see some before/after comparisons of the same car pre hondata tune (stock ECU) & then after mapping on Hondata.....same day & same RR as that is the only way to truly quantify any "gain" IMO.
I have always been a sceptic with RR figures. I accept that gains can be made with breathing mods & mapped to suit, but when the standard engine is making ~100bhp/litre I cant see the gains being big without more RPM, compression or displacement.....
Very impressive result nonetheless
Leave it with us mate we are talking over this @ the mo & will be starting a thread about it soon!
We want to make it so everyone will be able to attend, but bear in mind we have member's all the way up in scotland too!
I think what it is, clocks dont always tell the whole story, some clocks are out etc etc...
The B18C will be faster to any speed, the higher the speed i believe the bigger the difference....
0-60MPH is a hard one as its pretty hard to beat an EK9 with B16B to 60MPH as they are very quick, the true power will shine more once you get in 3rd gear onwards....
Hi Chris, I also agree with most of your comments but cant say I like the term 'Dyno-Lottery' lol.
Either way lets see what the car makes on the other dyno and that will give you a nice comparison. Besides peak numbers their is alot more important factors involved in a good tune that people never seem to discuss.
When I hit the rev limited my car seems to thud more than just bounce of the limiter...why is that?
Also, how come you have a shift light? Part of the Hondata?
EK9 fest!! i know i would be more up for traveling if we were to meet up at a track or qtr mile,or some where like that
and wow, those vids are impressive.
Seems like someone has definitely changed their tone about the extra 200cc.
No one believed me when I said so... B18C pawns B16B in every aspect, the video doesnt do much justice. It will be interesting to hear your tone again after you try out JB's car. You'll then understand what '200cc' will do with honda motors.
Looking forward to seeing the other dyno run anyhow as Jimbob seems very happy! Good Work
you have gained allot of area under the graph throughout the revrange, and gained a huge amount of power and tourque midrange,, this must be one fast B18C.
amazing work,, gotta save up so i can get mine "WILLtuned"
And to answer the B18C vs K20 question, worlds apart mate! Don't bother comparing. Your comparing a new generation engine + 200cc + VTC technology with a B18C?
Well done on the tuning Will! One of the best results I've seen!
Very nice.. !!!!
Very nice
..."Dyno Lottery" wasnt meant as a slight against your work at all...just that there is a massive amount of variation in figures from one place to another, thus its hard to know what to believe/trust as true figures. Its all about the before/after
I agree that improved torque across the range & smoother VTEC crossover will make for a swifter/smoother & nicer car to drive & far more important than the peak figures...
From my previous post, id actually expect pretty mild "peak" gains with basic breathing mods, with the majority of the improvement in the midrange driveability...
Im certainly doubtful that an I/H/E + a remap would yield more than 10-15BHP peak over what Honda enabled the car with from the factory. ~100BHP/litre standard output doesnt leave a huge amount of breathing space for big gains IMO. (no pun intended!)

Dont think i hit the rev limit @ any point in that vid mate!
But you will have to take me out for a spin in yours when i next see you!
Yeah the shift light is part of hondata
EK9turbo said:if you come down and have your car tuned by me you'll be surprised on what you really gain and we will do a before and after test.
