Iv wanted one for 4 years. Im upset there just not coming down in price. Its frustrating.

ek4s are going for sometimes half the price. how can yu justify an ek9 at nearly 8k?

Discuss your opinions.

I think there awesome. But there far to expensive.

yeah, it would be nice to knwo what people are ACTUALLY PAYING for them.

I completely agree with you. The value of them is pretty ridiculous for their age. You can buy them for cheaper then £8K though.

I had mine for sale for £6650.

IMO they are very desirable, Not like an ordinary car at all. They are in their own little category. There isnt really another car you can just go and buy that is like an EK9, only a DC2 i would say.

You get more car for the money with a DC2 but IMO it lacks something an EK9 has.

I had my first back in 2000. They were as rare as rocking horse sh*t back then. I sold my pre facelift on about 50k miles for around £8k, that same car would now be worth £6k. So a depreciation of only £200 pre year !!!!!

You need to man-up, stop crying, and buy an EK9. :p

Ignore geordie555, he's selling a very questionable EK9 and will be banned soon.

The high price is a good thing IMO... Keeps the riff raff out!

You gotta pay to play ;)

Keeps dirty little chavs for driving them, it's worth an extra 3k for that alone!

Our silver one in Japan was 222000 yen thats not expensive. Was a grade 3.5 mint body just high mileage.

Likewise, I agree it's a good thing. The price is high because they're such a special and indvidual car. They are part of a 'niche' market - on the most part they're owned by true and knowledgable enthusiasts.

The last thing I want is for them to start becoming common. I don't wanna see such a special car ruined by immature boy racer types, which I'm sure would start to happen should the price keep coming down..

totally agree with this, would hate to see an ek9 being ragged around by a chav.
althought i wish it was a little bit cheaper. when the currency picks up i think the price might drop.

It's a bit overpriced, I agree. I mean, if you buy a DC2 for less money, same year/mileage/grade and mod it for the money you save...good luck keeping up with the DC2 (though I'd rather have an EK9).

genrally over priced but shop around.................mine is going for 4K and had the cr tested, reading at 18 psi i think and whatever it means. been told its healthy

Ek9's are the business! Im the only one on my road that own's and only know of 2 more in the entire area with 1. They have the looks, speed and relability regardless of their age so u hav to pay for it. Sure u can get a replica for much cheaper but it won't have any lead in its pencil!!!

I paid £4800 for mine with spoon stroked b16b, ogura clutch, full fujitsubo exhaust, 5zigen manifold, cusco 1way rs lsd with std diff, clutch and flywheel in the boot, tein suspension, 15" desmond rega's on reo1r's, genuine spoon carbon bonnet, recaro profi spg seat, apexi vtec controller and omori gages. car was on 59000miles. i would say that i got it for a very reasonable price. i'm happy knowing how expensive they sell for as it keeps the chav's away from owning them :nice:

If you want an overpriced car buy a jordan, i've seen people asking over £4500 for them and they're just yellow vti's with some stickers. nothing against vti's though as they are very good cars for the money. i just think that jordans ruined the yellow ek9

In ireland, i've found that the prices have fallin a good bit over the last 2 years, particularly in the last few months.

Around this time last year, you would be looking between €7500 and €10,000 for a facelift EK9, now I've seen some very cleans ones going for around €6,000...

Shop around is my advice, with the economy still poor and people still reluctant to buy, sellers are finding it hard to shift their stock so their only option is to bring down prices.

If you find they are still out of your price range, EK4s' are a very good 2nd choice, lots of potential :D

Good luck :nice:

limited edition versions of things or limited production, or special edition versions of anything usually hold there value, especially if there is quality behind the product. The Type-R will always hold it's value, i don't see it coming down too much, ITR in USA are still very expensive cars and demand is still very high!

Well look at it this way. At least you know your investment will not depreciate like say a Clio 182 will.
Dunx

wow, lots of good feedback. thanks everyone.

yeah, i see what some of you guys are getting at, "keeps the riff raff out" that made ma laugh :)

Im still going to wait till sep oct to see how the price changes, and how the economy fares up. hopefully the boe interest rates will go up (no offense to any of you mortgage payers out there) and strengtehn the pund against the yen and dollar, which will hopefully bring the price of 9ers down.

I agree, there is alot of car in a 9, and there special, hence why iv been waiting for so long.
