I was just wondering if there was a drag race between a BMW E36 M3 Evo 320BHp vs a Civic Type R EK9 1.6/1.8 DOHC V Tec who would win? considering the bmw is way much heavier

i see some b18 ek drag race a m3 and ek are side by side with m3 so is close race

the bmw would absolutly cream the ek9

b18 ek9 will give one a run up until maybe 100 but the top end of the M3 will piss all over the civic

Agreed the M3 would leave the EK9 for dust
I have trouble keeping up with a e46 m3 in my s2k :(
but when i have my EVO that was a different story it would eat the M3s for breakfast

Seriously? lol

170mph german motorway weapon vs a civic that can barely do 140mph haha.

A stock E36 Evo M3 should run circa 13.5 QM times standard haha.

as has been said e36 evo (the 321bhp version and the older 296bhp non evo version) would absolutely hump an ek9.

i can keep within 2 car lengths to my dads Z4M coupe (e46 M3 engine/ 343bhp a more developed version of the engine) to 80mph but after that it leaves me for dust and thats a fairly modded B18C ek4, also off the line our civics just can't compete without some serious modifications to the running gear and suspension.

30-80 there isn't a huge difference but either side of that it's just a whole different class of performance

drag races are normally a quarter mile, in which case da civic would put up a good fight, especially an ek9 with 1.8 conversion..

My ek9 is now about 190-195bhp with a 4.78 dc2 final drive, rear stripped and I have a mate with an s2k with manifold, full buddyclub system, decat and an aem v2. The s2k and the ek9 are side by side everytime.

I have also had a run with an e46 M3 and its pretty much even until 100mph and then the M3 starts to just drive away as they pull really well top end:naughty:

I think if the M3 gets off the line good and his gear changes are spot on you will be watching his rear bumper all the way. There seriously quick cars.

Of coarse the m3 is gona wipe the floor with the civic, theyre in a different league!

Id love an M3 ,a lot of very clean ones going round for EK9 prices with the ression on!

I had a good race with one of those in my old stripped out EG6 SiR. My civic could beat an EK9 just but the M3 done me 3rd onwards. 2nd gear i could just keep up but he started pulling away in 3rd.

remember the bit of fun we had with that porshe, now that was fun lol

What porsche was that? i remember beating two in a row in my S14 lol but cant remember the one in my civic?

it was as black one, cant remember the model lol, we didnt beat it but kept with it through 2nd and just into 3rd :) it was hilarious

Oh i remember! wasnt it a navy blue 911 carrera s up the hill? lol yea that was a funny one!

yeah thats right, i dont think he could quite believe the little civic was sat right behind him lol probably why he gave us 3 or so runs with him so he could check he wasnt things lol

They are not really in a different league when it comes to 0-100mph and on the track also. I was out on track with two e46 m3s in my old dc2 and was slightly quicker than both of them, one of them couldnt accept that a wee honda was pushing him around the track and the marshals actually had to give him the blue flag to move over and let me past. Both the m3 drivers did loads of these trackdays, drove their cars hard and they were also modded slightly for the track (tyres, brakes and suspension)
