M3 Vs Type-R

ha that civic has 224bhp and so probz around 165lbs ft and look how easily the BM passes it top end

no i wasnt showing it because of who won, but it clearly shows the difference an m3 would have over even a k20'd ek at higher speeds that was the point i was trying to make

I've already said countless of times an m3 has alot greater top end. 100mph+ there is not much contest. Up to 100mph there is a contest.

exactly mate, sorry i didnt word my vid caption properly, it shows the m3 pulling away at i'd guess around 100. But untill then the ek is easily holding its own, which is what ive been trying to say too buddy, put thise cars on a track, i think the result would be a beaten m3. But as danny said this is getting a bit pointless now lol

every one already knows that the m3 will beat a n/a honda after 100mph. The only reason that I have been commenting on this thread is that I raced a few E46 and E36 M3s in my old dc2 (205bhp) and they were also my mates and were equally shocked at how the dc2 kept up. One of the e46 m3s was the heavier convertable model and the dc2 was ahead of it every time until about 90mph then after 105ish the m3 started to pull away.

My old dc2 was proven the same speed as my current ek9 with a 4-1 manifold, dc2 intake, rear stripped and a dc2 4.78 final drive. The ek9 now has a decat, spoon n1 and a dc2 throttle body so it goes a bit better.

I think it's time people just stopped posting on this. We all know the M3 will pull away at speeds above 100! but up to that it's always really close. A few people including me and EK9 dan have had the experience in this. So people just going off of figures need to stop now.

lets just stop this rubbish now. Lets face it...how much did the M3's cost brand new compared to the EK9? no point comparing.

Goodnight godbless!

haha, got to laugh at some of these threads that pop up

ek9 can hold it's own through twisties against some bigger cars. i've nudged a E46 m3 along a back road before, couldn't shake me off. Also had a play with a new style 911 turbo whilst driving my dads FD2, after the porsche got a bit broadside round a certain corner he soon slowed down and let me past :)

Moral of the story, depends on driver, in the right hands there's no way i'd be keeping up with said cars, thing is up in Aberdeen there's alot of people with more money than sense. same applies for drag racing as in the original post, how well both cars are mechanically, what tyres they're running etc etc

There's always one that has to carry it on! lol

With 2.0 Type-R engine I am running ~same acceleration as E46 M3...
but no chance with stock engine...

Youl get an E36 m3 for cheaper than an EK9 these days lol

Look at how much it takes to gain just 1,5 car length on the M3 at lower speeds in that movie, 255hp K20 (aprox) with 6 gears. No way a 185bhp or 200bhp 5 gear EK9 is going to keep up imho in a straight line. On a tight track the EK9 will keep up or even win. Otherwise it won't.

But the most important thing to consider is the fun factor. What's the use of having the fastest car around if you don't like the way it drives, don't like the feeling it gives you?

That EK9 kept in front till a very high speed. And i can bet that EK9 is 224BHP @fly. It would beat the M3 for alot longer then that if it were a K20 with 255BHP. All its got is a after market header. And thats the E36 BMW, i only have experience racing the E46.

Why im still posting i dont know :((

Ah well, it's all speculation till there are some solid measurements :) What matters is that you have fun in your car.

While it is known as the M3 Competition Package in the US and mainland Europe, it is also known as the M3 CS (Club Sport) in the UK

The competition package was only offered in the US and mainland europe you pudding, uk cars already had the uprated brakes from the factory,

in comparison to the normal uk m3's the CS and CSL run the same brakes i don't know how many times i have to say this
