Well, its about time to start uploading pictures of the work which has been carried out.. Still a hell of alot of work to be done however!

My plans are basically to Keep b16b bottom end, Stroke it (B18 Crank), Bore the cylinder head for the darton sleeves (84m), and aquire some ITBs (Still). :( - Have been estimated in the region of 260-280 bhp. Will be running 12-13,5Cp/r. Also have a Os giken super single clutch + Flywheel to put in!

Here are a couple of pictures to start with, Engine and gearbox has been removed, cylinder block has gone away for machining and darton sleeves to be fitted. Gearbox/Transmission casing gone away for modification to house Mfactory close ratio gears.

Cylinder head has gone for porting/polishing and finally the crank assembly is off to get balanced! :)

Out with the engine and Trans

Looks good :) I thought a b20 build would be using a b20 bottom end.

Hmm, true But this is a 2L, minus the stroke though. What else could I call it? :please:

B16b rebuild with an ITR Crank and aftermarket pistons? im confused though as the ITR crank is 1.8 not 2.0...

very nice build up, sounds ace! will look forward to end results! :)

Just call it " crazy ass EK9 Build!" :)

The Displacement will be 2.0L, This is what the darton sleeves are for - So I can safely get 2.0l from a B16b bottom end. You can't put a B20 crank in b16b bottom end.. as im sure your aware.

So you wont have 2.0. Just cos your boring out to 84mm doesnt mean youll get the 2.0l the B20 has cos your still using the 1.8 crank so your stroke wont be long enough to get 2.0l. And what set up are you hoping to achieve 280bhp with? cos its not possible without spending thousands

B18 stroke is 87.2

B20 stroke is 89

Well Im using 84mm pistons.. Cheers for all the critism though. :nice: If the reputable builder + Tuner has estimated me this, Im quite sure he knows what hes doing as he used to work in engine/development for Mugens forumla 3 team.

Well if you list up your spec list for the build we all we be able to estimate roughly what sort of power youll get as some of us have experience in this. I'm sure your engine builder does know what he is doing...im not saying he doesnt but if he hasnt built one of these engines before he shouldnt have given you hopes of 280..but post up a list of specs.

We know your bottom end...so what you got going into the head side of things?

Hes doing the build... He HAS experience, hes done 4-5 other builds similar to this. We are keeping OEM valvetrain, however adding toda cam pully's so we can alter the cams slightly when it comes being dyno'd. In the future I may deceide to go for aftermarket Cams.

looks like its gona be great but im VERY VERY sceptical of 280bhp on standard camshafts and valvetrain form a 1.9liter.

Good luck with the build.

So your hoping get 260-280 from a B16b that all it's had done is a 3mm over bore and a 1.8 crank?

your looking at no more than 210-220 if your lucky. BUT i shall wish you the best of luck with the build mate. Will be a nice motor when done

And i'm not just talking bull either. I know a true B20 motor been overbored by .5mm with a lot of development gone into it with the same CR your hoping for but with huge rocket motorsport cam's only making 238hp....

Thats what I thought at first, but he seems fairly determined about it though.

Yeah, Will keep you all updated and will more than likely post pics weekly on all the progress :nice:.

Will be very nice to see what figures it makes, im rather eager to find out:blinx:
