B16B stroked to 1.8 with TODA parts...

Great!! :D

When you get the ARP studs ready let me know...

So, would i be needing the TODA uprated oil pump? This would just be pumping more oil right?

And the head gasket? why should I use 2 layers?

as far as the oil pump im not sure, sorry  but the reason i wouldent get a 1 layer head gasket is becuase it is more likely to BLOW out. its up to you, i know people who blew them out in 10k miles i know people who had them for 35k miles.

im currently out of town right now, i move back on 8/22 give me some time to get settled in and i'll take care of it :nice: its a small box so hopefully shipping wont be too expensive :nerv:

You moving house or away?
Thats would be great!! Thanks!

Looks like I'll have to wait a bit to order the TODA parts... For some damn reason and don't know when it happended but the AUD currency dropped!!!! Like 10c vs USD :angry2::angry2::angry2:

This also affects AUD vs YEN, which last month was AUD leading... :angry2::mad:

I guess it can wait then... still got to fix up other parts first...:(

I hear everybody in this thread talking about how to turn the engine in to a 1.8(basically a B18C) but no one is mentioning the fact that u will have to upgrade your ecu as well because the ecu on a CTR is for 1600cc. the engine will not function as well with that ecu. u need to upgrade 2 a itr ecu or get an upgrade itr ecu.

the ecu has not been discussed becuase its not the topic, we are all aware that with the addition of cams/pistons/etc... the ecu will need upgrading.

I just mentioned it because somebody new to tuning might read this thread and think the things mentioned here are all u need to turn your 1.6 into a 1.8. Alot of people make that mistake.

:) just installed a NEW power FC and using the preprogramed mapping for B16B atm... so won't have to worry about that...

Ok now I'm really thinking if I should just get the 1.8L stroker kit... is there any concern with installing the 1.8 kit and use the CTR pistons instead of ITR pistons? I know compression would jump but any mechanical concerns?

Also;

How much compression would it add up to with that mod over stock CR?

Whats the ITR piston size compared to 81mm CTRs?

itr crank and rods with ctr pistons should give you ~12:1

And with no worries unless over 9000rpm correct? If this is the case then this might be easier and make much more power with toda Spec C cams:nerv::nerv::nerv:

No worries unless over 9500 rpm :D Honda did not release the true potential of the EK9 program. I also believe that based on cam specifications, if your intention is no more than 9000 rpm, TODA is just fine but more than that, Skunk2 is definitely better in terms of power cuz they work better at high rpm and also perhaps in terms of safety they are better since they were designed to work that high

hmmm 9500rpm... I can do that just by pressing a few buttons on my Power FC and go 9990rpm lol... But without any remapping, I'm just sticking with 9000rpm for now... :D

Yeh, I heard that Skunk Stage 3 has more top end than Spec C todas, but todas have more mid range which would be more suitable for the street...:nice: I did hear that they're more of a race only cam and you have to open up your engine and check every once a while to check that everythings ok with these Skunk Stg 3 cams... lol:shocked: I don't want to do that... :D I think Spec C cams are the ultimate for street application.:nice:

hmmm, it would be very cool if someone could post up a thread on tuning the software with the Power FC... but again, it aint a good idea if we blow up our engines either... :(

Blinx: you sure theres no modifications needed to keep the CTR pistons with 1.8 stroker?

Some guy in my city is putting JUN pistons, 1.8L crank, and spec C into his B16A, isn't this setup pretty edgy?

Haha, I'm not talking about Skunk2 Stage 3 mate, forget about them, they have to rev 1400 rpm above the EK9 redline all the time and used only on heavily modified engines, otherwise you will burn your engine like a toast!! These are STRICTLY track oriented. If your objective is a street setup just don't buy them...........The S2 Stage 2 are street oriented but very aggressive (you don't notice much of their presense until vtec engages :wow:) , actually they are more aggressive than the Toda Stage 3. I have no idea how many times a gave the link to a dyno chart showing this.....
So the decision for the ultimate street cam is a matter of taste :)

Skunk stg 3 is crazy man... lol

yeh I got some info from this link
http://www.g-motorsports.com/camshaftandvalvetrain.htm

I do like my mid range just as much as you like your 'dare I say 5Zigen header! hahahaha jk manos...

did that dyno graph show a comparison with todas C?

yup no mods needed, but i personally would use the itr pistons, its safer and easier to tune. as for that "some guy" in your city he might be not telling the whole truth, you cant put a honda 1.8 crank in a b16a cuase the mains are different, maybe he has a custom crank and a deckplate? if so im sure piston vavle clearance has been taken into consideration.

and here is the link again for the lazy people :)
http://www.importreview.com/reviews/skunk2todadagain.html

but manos isent the toda D a stage 3 cam? (i dont think they have an "A" do they?)

Blinx: yeh, I told that my friend that the guy is going to blow something. lol

Toda does have a Spec A cam. pretty much just has the same top end as spec B and can be fitted without tuning.

Manos: Thats quite a decent gain on top end! too bad nothing much happens below 6500rpm... Do you have a graph of Todas Spec C or B vs stock?

This is now getting interesting, I didn't think Skunk was that great with their cams... :nerv:

I told you before, you do not buy them for their midrange peformance, you can get some mid power from other mods for which you will laugh if I tell LOL............. Anyway, they get crazy  after 6000 rpm and you also feel an extra push at 7500 if properly tuned (stage 2). Btw, check www.skunk2.com I did not spend much time to navigate through them but at least Skunk2 has some dynographs comparing its cams with others.
