B16B stroked to 1.8 with TODA parts...

Blinx: It was on a B16A with 12CR and the Toda As made more power on the same car and same tuner. Toda Bs need around 12.5+ to make use of the high profiles and Skunk will need about the same as B. I think he made 195whp in the US and the Bs made less. I'm not sure if it was stroked or not...

Good point, I will ask some tuners around if they're confident on tuning 12CR engines. What would you rate the difficulty of tuning 12CR? And how much difference between tuning 11CR, 12CR and 13CR?

there is a major difference in 11 12 and 13cr, the difficulty all comes down to experience, you just have to be very careful, start out with less timing and rich a/f and just start leaning out and adding timing while keeping an eye on knock, it sounds simple but its really not. takes a lot of time...

hmmm, I hope my tuner is confident tuning 12CR so I don't need ITR pistons. Anyway, I've decided to go for Spec A and hopefully tune it to the max. :D

Got this off Toda... :D

B16A / B18B / B18C EGG-SHAPED SECTION
UP RATED VALVE SPRINGS

14760-B16-000
Our up rated valve springs are required to help you get the most from your cam enabling the cam and your engine to operate to the max.

Max Lift 12.5mm

EGG-SHAPED SECTION
springs are used to achieve the high lifts required safely. Lift 12.5mm Max. Variable pitch spring.

Comparing a conventional high lift spring with EGG technology, you get 20%
more valve lift with a 15% reduction in weight.

These are TODA head gaskets, they are 82.5mm bore. Is this ok to use with stock pistons?

12251-B16-006 0.6mm ø82.5mm
12251-B16-008 0.8mm ø82.5mm
12251-B16-009 0.9mm ø82.5mm
12251-B16-010 1.0mm ø82.5mm

Blinx: I'm really still thinking about it and trying to do some research. But I did find that many tuners say 12CR is the most minimum CR needed to use Spec B. So I'm still scratching my head atm...

Some more stuff from TODA

ø84mm15131-B16-000
The oil pump is the heart of the engine, so when modifications are carried out the oil pump should not be overlooked. Improved oil circulation helps to prevent your modified engine from incurring expensive rebuilds. (ø80mm or ø84mm)

no you cant use the 82.5 toda gasket, and that 12CR required thats on a 1.6 right? if its on a 1.8 11.5 should be enough... trust me use the spec B. spec A is bullshit. btw y havent you posted on my stolen car thread  i want sympathy dammit!

Stolen car? Oh S*** I thought I did... lol sorry... hang on, wasn't that another guy? ok ok I'll go and find it... :D

haha its all good... but yeah SPEC B!!! blinx will pray that your motor blows up if you get spec A... hahahah j/k :)

LOL then I know who to blame...:(

Hmmm, I'm not sure if there is any variations on a 1.6 and 1.8 Spec A is already bigger than stock B16A, B16B, B18C and every other manufacturers Stg 1 cams... and I'm guessing it would work better with B18C because of the 11.1CR stock.

btw, good news:woot:, I've asked my tuner and he says it should be no problems with tuning 12CR for him because i have the Power FC with Commander and factory knock sensors that will display on commander also. He said with higher CR, just need to reduce timings, so I hope it is easier than his confidence suggests...:naughty:

LOL i love the additional emoticons RVM...:thanks:

if a cam requires 12 CR on a 1.6 it will require less CR on a 1.8

good news about the tuner :nice:

Man now you making me undecisive... :angry2:

How much increase have you seen with Spec B?

LOL I hate you blinx!

Thats really strange how the Spec Bs die off at 8000rpm? I know Jun stg3 is good but compare it with Spec C and toda might edge out... I'm going to wait as I'm just getting some confirmation about that SPOON EK9 K20A thats for sale. I'm asking my importer in Japan about it and if I do buy it then I might just leave the B16B alone and get new piston rings for it... :nerv:

Jun Stage 3 are supposed to be equivalent to Skunk2 Stage 2 but I have no indication if thats true

that's what i also heard. I WANT JUN STAGE 3 CAMS TOO!!! :(

wtf is that?

anyway, I guess that goes to show that it's not easy making the power you wish to make with cams. That test was on a 1.8 so on a 1.6, gains should be less. Still they didn't mention the CR of the engine.

I still think i'd be overcammed with anything over Spec A. Jun stg 2 looks good, but top end looses to Toda Spec A. Toda Spec Bs top end isn't as good as Spec A either but Bs have big bottom and mid range gains. :blabla:

man...:angry2:
