SPOON ECU!!! It actually works!

£400 for a Spoon ECU which makes the care Great fun to drive, faster and much more useable

>£1000 for standalone mangement that does the exact same but works a bit better as its set up to your exact mods.

For the money, there aint none better there aint none greater

Thanks.
This will help me for sure.
I wanted to buy a spoon ecu but the one i found was a P73 and the check engine went on on my car. It was like U$700, and finally found the ems form a desperate guy for U$450.00. For some reason the check engine light kept turning on when i installed a P73 ecu (with a OBD2b to Obd2a harness). I tried 3 different ecus and the same (1 spoon and two JDM DC2 ecus). So i went for the EMS. Hope to install it next week and get it tuned.

Im running spoon cams and im going to install a AEM EMS so i would like to setup the vtec point as specified by spoon.
That would be my base tune.

Spoon Sports Replacement Honda ECU - FUNKY POWER

Yes but second hand prices are better! I would never buy it new!

i want one!! like has already been said best mod ecu wise for under £400 i like it :))

It says 5300-5600 for vtec engagement

Mine is more like 5000-5200, 5000 obviously being if you are at WOT

Steven, do you think there is any chance you could be running a B18 one? The vtec engagement point for those is 5000rpm

Mine comes in at 5500 Very hard and pulls strongly til over 9000, although my peak power is around 8900.

would peak power not be around 8k,unless you are using wild cams!!

Bit strange, mine comes in at around 5500-5600 and pulls strong to around 8800 and limits at 9300 - obviously this is what I see on the clocks which we all know are a bit in-accurate!

Whats the limit on yours Steven?

Josh..

Deff not a B18 one as i've checked the barcodes on it etc

Think all spoon ecu's are a touch different, my mates B18 one didn't seem to have a limiter on it for instance and over fuelled LOTS top end, had it RRd and was turbo rich top end

Mine pulls hard to the limiter which on the clocks is about 9500, although stock ECU limits at 9 on the clocks so this seems right, innacuracies and all at high revs

Standard ECU vtec comes in at 6200 so counter is accurate enough low down the revs ;)

my techno pro ecu is very similar, vtec change over is about 5.2k, then the cams build up towards 6k where it goes absolutely insane. no idea what the rev limit is on it though, it's well over 9k though :)

my ecu vtcs at 5000rom and 5200rpm if you ease is up

was told it was a mugen though, its a p73 so DC2 ecu

tried a friends OE dc2 ecu and it was considerably slower than my current

"peak power" is different than "rev limit" i always thought!

on a stock engine peak power would be around 8k and would make no more bhp after that but will keep reving till set "rev limit".

somebody correct me if im talking "keek" :D

thats correct std cams will only make power till about 8300 so after that its just revs you are using.

i would luv one of these ecu's but they seem to be hard to find for my car as its a 2000 and has a built in imobaliser and you need to by pass it some how. has anyone come across this on an ek4 b16a before

will be good to see stock vs spoon ecu. i know the spoon ecu made a big differance to johns ek9 he gaind a second on the 1/4 mile witch is alot for a plug and play

A full second???? No offence, but how can you be sure that the ECU was the only difference and not:
- Improved driving skills
- More grip on the track than when stock ECU was used
- Different weather

I'm not saying the Spoon ECU doesn't make any difference, but one second is A LOT.

Looking at my RR Print out and it makes peak power at 8700RPM with the Spoon ECU

It hits the limit at above 9200RPM

haha, i know the difference between rev limit and peak power point

i want a before and after b18c spoon ecu dyno before i get one lol

yes almost a full second bud. and yes you do need to take all they factors in. but he has been to the drag loads of times different weather every time and he was running low to mid 15s. he then fitted the spoon ecu and now runs 14.4 dead every run so the ecu has clearly done some good and i know alot off ppl that spend 1000's to gain not even a second. but then it all comes down to how well your spoon ecu learns the mods you have done
