So today my Spoon ECU arrived for my B18C EK9, unfortunately its broken so i lent the ECU to my brother (DC2) untill i've fixed my car.

Well what can i say! Inital thoughts from myself are very good! I've only been a passenger and christ does this thing go now! Really pulls VERY well, 6000rpm it goes mad and just keeps going to 9k!!! (On the Tacho)

So i said to my brother use it while my car is off the road and let me know what you think.

Well i'm still wiping spunk off my face!

He came in so excited as he went for a drive and he said it definitely has so much more power and torque inc low down, VTEC is amazing and he said its also changed the sound of his VTEC. He also said throttle response has improved a lot!

He loves it and has asked for one for xmas! He's also NOT looking forward to putting his old ECU back on cause he says its ****!

I will add more when i fit it to my 9, i'm also gona try get dyno results to back up my initial thoughts....

Watch this post!

:thanks:

Yup, they definitely work even though so many people seem to hate them or doubt them! For the money you can get one for they are a cracking purchase!

I will be looking forward to that :)
Doesn't Funkypower sell it but you need to send your OEM ECU back?

defo intrested to see dyno graphs with them

Yeah i think so.

I wouldn't pay over £400 for a Spoon though or any other preprogrammed ECU. Fully mapable is the way forward always will be. But if its a preprogrammed under the 400 mark then i think the Spoon is a worth while upgrade.

Sounds great, wonder how well a Spoon does against a custom mapped ECU.

They react better depending on what mods are already done to the car.

What mods will you have on the car when your doing the dyno tests?

Ill be watching this post for the dyno......

Whats the vtec point on the Spoon ecu? I guess it a P73 (ITR) right?
Whats the rpm limit on te ecu too?

thanks

I'm a non believer, I'd love to see a dyno plot with OEM ecu vs spoon ecu, but i don't expect anybody to do it just for me, i know dyno time is expensive...

They do improve the car no end!

I'm planning on getting my car RR once it's back on the road, will be interesting to compare it to when i had it on the rollers with the standard ECU :nerv:

What sort of internal work do you need (if any) to run one? Whats the standard engine like at 9K?

Standard ECU limits at 8600, spoon limits at 9100

Pretty sure i read the standard valvesprings are good to 9300, as long as you're not holding it on the limiter all the time then you will be ok

I change my oil very frequently, still use no oil and oil still stays nice and clean even with using this ECU for the last 5k miles or so

And whats the v-tc engagement point?

spoon ecu will work for sure better then than stock on a stock engine with boltons ,but its very expensive compared to other solutions.
