Race car finally out of Hibernation

U must b pleased with the outcome mate, glad it all got sorted!

U can relax now and enjoy havin ur car back;)

That is a great figure , must be very healthy :nice: , not just about peak power Id say the mid range has improved immensely

awesome figures!

be intereting to see how the improved earthing is achieved

Picked the car up today

before

186.3bhp @ 8171rpm
117.5lbft @ 7959rpm

after

204.4bhp @ 8299rpm
127.2lbft @ 7969rpm

About 20bhp up @ 6k, an increase of about 10-15bhp everywhere else! Similar torque wise, increase of roughly 10-20lbft throughout

Feels super responsive and smooth, pulls really hard!! Henry Roy is the man :nice:

 Nice one!

The earthing - Engine is earthed in 2 places, the gearbox and the valve cover (runs down the studs to the head). These are rubbish as standard when you properly look at them, really slim cables which are exposed at the end, mine for one were looking extremely tired and as the voltage drop test showed they were not efficient at all

The main earth from the strut tower to the negative of the battery was replaced and a new earth was ran from the negative of the battery to the back of the cylinder head on the cambelt side. Both new earths are heftier cable which can carry 3 times the current of standard and have heat shrunk ends to seal the cables from the elements.

Will get a photo and stick it up once i scan the graphs in too!

Not saying to go out and replace your earths it will give you more power  Just for my car it did, these cars are 11-14 years old now after all

Here you go, shan camera phone pic but you get the idea.....

Nope

They are the top of the range N1 race ones, separate compression and rebound adjustment, so even if you can get adjusters on the top it would only adjust rebound, the compression knob is on the underside of the damper :)

I will defo be doing this earthing mod!! 5hp+ more power sweet!!

No seriously in reality i recon its worth doing on any refined car. Every little helps after all.

Especialy for me being in a 19year old EG6! lol

P.s always amusses me when you see some people's engine bay photo's and they actualy have the earth cable bolted to the front of the rocker cover on the cam belt cover side(throttle cable bracket bolt hole) instead of the under one of the cover mounting nuts when the actual rocker cover is rubber mounted and that cable is doing F all except earthing an ally cover.

I done something very similar to that with my earths, used crimp on ends and also soldered them with a small blowtorch and the heat shrunk them, also replaced the ones to the cam cover with some fancy red insulated cable as the origionals looked a bit rough,

Noticed a difference after doing it,

Anyway top work and look forward to seeing the graphs:bow:

great results from the tuning session :nice:

looking forward to the future videos and pictures from the track now :)
