Race car finally out of Hibernation

well bit of an update on the tuning.....

ran the car on oem ecu however henry had to run it from 2.5k as from usual 1.5k the car would stall almost instantly, didnt seem to have as much aggro in vtec as most b16b but still pulled 186bhp 120lbft, we were both expecting more tbh.....

as soon as the p28 was fitted the problem was clear, faulty main relay :(

new relay ordered and tuning this week, deffinately in good hands, henry knows his **** :nice:

U not happy with the outcome dude? its in gd hands am sure it will b sweeeet!

u gona have it for sunday mate?

only did 2 power runs on the oem ecu and got those figures, been no tuning yet!

with the older design of the p28 ecu the electrical fault shone through so we called it a day . he knew straight off what the problem was and theres no point in tuning until this is resolved :)

oh and no unfortunately will not make the meet now :(

At least you know what the problem is and that is still a healthy figure even with the fault so it should be good when its sorted:nice:

Where is the main relay? Do you have any idea why you have needed to replace the ICM and now the main relay? I'm thinking that your extremely cold winter may have been the cause

aw dude u cant come :( ,hope a get the chance to c it at some point!:)

Exactly, looking forward to the drive back up the road with it :nerv:

Main relay is in the car under the dash somewhere i think..... Henry said the main relay is a common fault with hondas, he usually keeps a few in stock they are that bad!! combination of cold weather and age of the car i guess, it is 13 years old

take a look at nez-s thread on itr dc2 forum, ive posted some usefull links about main relays, :nice:

Years ago had a major headache with starting problems and the main relay in my EF8. When I finally found out what the culprit was I took it out of the car and re-soldered the 'dry joints' and the car worked like a dream again. Didn't ever find out how much a replacement would be but at a guess I cant see it being too much.

Part has been ordered and will be in at Honda this morning

Spoke to Henry last night and he's going to fit it today and check the car over, if all is good will be tuned this afternoon and i will collect tomorrow :nerv:

Hopefully that will be the end of your troubles mate, its usually french cars you expect to give you electrical grieff !!

Looking forward to seeing what Henry can do for you - Good Luck :nice:

**UPDATE**

Just off the phone with Henry, new relay fitted and car is running better however he was still not happy with the almost standard power figures

Done a voltage drop check and due to crap earthing the engine wasn't getting full power for the electrics!

Redone the earthing with better wiring, now producing more power right through the revs with a peak of 194bhp on the STANDARD ecu

Let the tuning commence :nerv:
