And this is all just a myth. A tuning company tested 10 manifolds all on the same dyno and the result where all over the place. They tried 4-1 and 4-2-1 configurations and the myth that 4-1 gives better top and 4-2-1 better torque and mid was all bolloxs. They tested manifolds from spoon dc ect ect and the result didn't show any pattern. For example My japspeed 4-2-1 made more power than my mates who was running a DC 4-1 both with i dentical set ups! I really must try and find this article. I do not understand why every1 on here belives 4-2-1 to be better?

It's not just about 4-2-1 and 4-1 pipes... Theres so much testing and engineering in headers which shows in the price. The diamter, bends and lengths etc etc all effect flow. It's also possible that a 4-2-1 header can make more top end power than a 4-1. But when we talk about the strengths and weaknesses of 4-1 and 4-2-1, it means the basic theory. Brands like TODA and Hytech have engineered their 4-2-1 headers to better their own 4-1 header and with bonus more torque at lower and mid range. Thats why you pay $1000-$1400 for it.
If you buy some cheap ass ebay headers, 90% chance that your stock headers perform better. Why? Because of engineering from the factory. Anyone can just weld up pipes together.
I understand what your sayin and i agree with it. But i'm stating what an atricle had showed me when they tested a load. Also yes cheap headers are not as good but to make the assumption that they are crap is a silly in my opinion. I've dyno'd 3!!!! (with different B16's) And seen gains over stock on all! its not as restrictive SIMPLE. i've put big money else where. I do not see the point paying another £500-£700 for a few measly extra BHP from a 1.6? When i can get similar results from a cheaper mani. I expect 9 manis are much more free flowing than UK cars.
sorry to say this but japspeed are crap, my mates has cracked just after a year on his eg coupe. So i have pointed him in the 5zigen direction as not much different in price
lumek4: i still can figure out how you can pull away from ek9s and ep3s. Please enlighten me as i have a few friends and family that have ek4s and they dont come close to overtaking me.
ok i will need to get all my vids together and get them posted of me beating ek9's and ep3's and its not just one were u can say it was a lucky race its been a few iv beat now.
LOL i fine it hard to belive a mildly modded ek4 can pull away from an ek9 let alone a ep3 ........,to put it simple how can a 180bhp modded ek4 vti pull away from a 185bhp ek9 which is lighter than a ek4 anyway ???????????????
