New Phillips x-treme +80% bulbs review, AMAZING!!

Ah just checked my earlier post...got 9 months out of them :((

hmmm, they should last longer then that, did you touch them with your fingers when installing them? your supposed to clean the glass and use gloves when installing...

cleaning the glass wont affect the life of the bulb surely?!

Used gloves m8. One filament had snapped, the other bulb just had discolouration but wasnt working.

damn that sucks, mine are still holding up just fine but i don't drive it too often... maybe you should try the nightbreakers next? they are supposed to be a bit brighter... and they can be found on ebay for $30 usd!! which is much cheaper.

so, i know that the phillips bulbs aren't available in the usa (so i presume the same goes for canada...), but are the nightbreakers available to buy in north america?

I just put through an order for the Phillips Xtemes. Hopefully there are as bright as they are hyped to be. :nice:

Don't expect HID quality lighting... they are amazing for halogen bulbs, the nightbreakers can be found on ebay for a bit cheaper now, about $34 last time i checked...

I just installed the Osram Nightbreakers....haven't drive yet but it doesn't seem to be any brighter....also, the color is still yellow-ish, I'd say about 2500k. I suppose that's not the color it should be? Maybe I'm ripped of by the Ebay seller, even though he has 100% positive feedback and over 2500 feedbacks.

like i said, don't expect HID quality, go drive on a dark mountain road and report back to us.

I drove on some dark roads yesterday. They do seem to be a bit brighter. The part that is and was lighted isn't brighter, but I can see further now. But even though I bought it for better sight, I'm slightly dissapointed by the yellow color of the lights.

just bought a set of these came with free side bulbs must say they're a great improvement over standard and look sweeeet!

Yeah, all halogens will have yellow in them, unless they have the blue coating, but the blue coating reduces light output :(

whats the site to order these philips bulbs?

link on the first page :nice:

I'm planning to change my bulbs but i'm not sure how much. Before, dad bought it for me and now i need to buy it using my money. How much does it cost?

Mine was about $50 USD when i did bought them, but that was a long time ago... Also the OSRAM Nightbreakers are a little bit cheaper and just as bright if your on a budget...

After reading the review I installed some in my son's civic. I was very impressed indeed. great spread and range.

i got the phillips visionplus, they are abit cheaper than the x-treme £16 and i dont recommend anyone buying them im having to replace them after 3/4 months as one has already died :( not good at all!

well hid's are going to be A LOT brighter, however: even with my lights pointed downwards and my car lowered i was still blinding people, i was even blinding 18 wheelers!! the lack of a projector in the 99-00 civic (ek9,ek4,em1) headlight makes the light flood out, its very hard to control where the light goes. i was able to light up a quarter mile!!! im not saying its impossible to make them aim properly just that i was not able to do it nor did i have time to play with them. these new phillips x-tremes are excellent for a non-hid bulb, i do a lot of canyon driving at night and these bulbs really show me every detail in the road and go really far. if you have the time and money to get hid's and make the aim properly then do it, if not, these bulbs are an excellent alternative.

another complaint i had about the hid's is that i lost my high beam. i only had 1 beam and it was all over the place.

Excellent write up i agree, and the pictures sold me out completely.

I have 99 EM1, and using HID's atm, and as quite rightly pointed out by blinx9900, my light coverage is so far, that signs light up 1/4 mile away, and no matter how low i set the light adjustment, including with my lowered suspension, i'm still blinding oncomming traffic!

It's a shame that i didn't read this prior to my HID blowing a ballast after 1 year, the replacement cost of Phillips bulbs are relatively cheaper than HID replacements. I shall definatley consider purchasing Phillips X-Treme the time when my HID's blow out again.
