Hi guys, thought id Start here by showing you my car so here goes...

I owned a Saxo for the first year of my driving life, and to be fair i liked it, was a brilliant car and for a 1.1 it looked the tits...

The Civic...

Now my dad works at Aston Martin which is an 80mile round trip everyday from home, so he wanted something fairly cheap to bomb up and down the motorway, i was chuffed and envious at the same time when he bought an EJ9/EK civic, so when he decided he wanted a change in december 07 i snapped his hand off and paid him a grand for the civic id always really wanted...

it pretty much satyed the same for about 2 months while i gathered money to do what i wanted to it, however i saw an exhaust on ebay for a rediculous price brand new, im not the type to wack a loud exhaust on a car that hasnt been modified in any other way but once it arrived i had to see what it sounded like. I also removed the hub caps for the more used and abused look

After this i continued to save for what was origionally going to be my first mod, Suspension. After hearing bad reports on ride quality of some coilovers, and the price tag of some of the others, i decided my best bet would be to go for a good damper and spring combination in the form of Koni Yellows and Koni -35mm springs.

Couple of weeks later my Rotas Arrived and i was ready to get cracking...

After the nightmare that was the LCA Bolt, i had to replace the one LCA as the bolt was well and truely stuck inside the bush, after taking it to be pressed out there was no luck. So off to honda i went with bush in hand (oooo errrrr). Honda couldnt supply me with just a bush (unless i found the part number which i didnt know then) and they wanted £109.99 for one LCA, so onto ebay and some Alloy LCA's were ordered.

Overnight parts from Japan!
(well they were overnight parts, but more like from stafford)
and this was the result
IMG_1787.jpg

didnt lower it as much as i thought but then it hadnt settled at that point

To Be Continued...

Nice work, prefer the rims white! Saxo looked well done too, nothing over the top. Better than all my earlier cars when I was younger, I had some real sheds.

Nice little thread that. i enjoyed reading

Cool car :nice:

cheers guys, love the car to bits it was what id always wanted, and yes Bseries is sitting in the garage :)

Nice, iv been looking for thouse headlight covers for about a year, and still havent found them.

b16a2 is being dropped in :)

as for the mid spoiler, i look at it some days and think i want to rip it off then i look at it on others and love it, the fact it leaves 6 holes in the boot is the deciding factor though!

updates from last year! just copied straight from another forum i was regularly on at the time...

next day:
so got alot more done today, i think itll be starting tomoz. Would have been started today if we didnt run into some driveshaft problems but its all sorted now and sitting back on the floor!

So i got my front ground controls sorted but only took one pic of them all dis assembled which is a bit retarded of me
DSC00853.jpg

then ad wrocked up with...
DSC00857.jpg

then we set about putting gear linkage and short shifter in, and exhaust mani all back together
DSC00854.jpg

driveshaft wanged in and new droplinks fitted
DSC00855.jpg

and one pic to show how clean it is in my arches now with my EK9 Subframe and rack, new droplinks and track rod ends (come with the rack) new ground controls and cleaned shocks :D

...

yeah the actual conversion went sweet as a nut! started it today and it sounded a bit odd, dipped the clutch and a load of noise went so my thrust bearing is making a racket for some reason? its a brand new exedy clutch kit, all fitted correctly. hopefully that will quieten down after a few trips.

but what is worrying me is a high pitched wine coming from the engine, like a bearing or somethings gone, or the cambelt is catching that kind of sound like. Hopeing the alternator belt is just too tight. Will give that a go tommorow morning and hope for the best.

Good news is that there isnt any low down knocking (that iv gathered from the short while iv had it idling and the few thousand revs that i took it upto) or anything and it idles fine. Bit tappy on the top end mlike but i think thats fairly normal.

wired my ecu up for vtec and the thing plooms oil smoke out the back! like i mean plooooooooooooooms it out! only when in vtec/higher revs

ell got the head back today :D

:D

so got some rings and acl race bearings on tuesday, dropped two pistons in before it got dark and fitted the new oil pump as i was a bit warey of some stories id heard of them failing.
was then going to finish the build on wednesday but it ****ing pissed down, so ended up continuing on friday!
friday came and spent from 12 - 6 on the car from more or less what you see above to a complete engine :D

started the car first turn of the key and sounded sweet as a nut, took it round the block to test everything was ok and it ran fine, was great to be in the car again. came home and turned it off to check everything under the bonnet and to check the oil level.

Came out after getting some much deserved grub and thought id take it for a longish drive to properly seat the rings, started fine again and took it off the estate, turned one corner and all of a suden got major jerking of the car when the throttle was applied. Got to the bottom of the hill and stop at the junction and the car stalled. started it again no probs but it just doesnt want to idle, pulled away fine ad kept the revs up and took it to 4k no problems pulls sweet. I thought itd be best to turn around and take it home before going on a drive not knowing what the problem is, on the way every time i changed gear and apply the throttle again it would jerk the whole car, like a hesitation, then it would be fine if the revs were kept on.

got it back on to my drive and it just stalled, started again and kept the revs on a costant number and the revs fluctuated on their own, only by say 200 revs but fluctuating none the less.
so did a bit of research and main things that iv found are possible tps and MAP sensors?
i dont think its tps as it hasnt been touched, so im looking at MAP. All the plugs are on the right sensors as iv checked the pin outs for the ecu.

I didnt have a hose going from rocker cover to inlet.
the jubilee clip from intake onto the T/B wasnt tight (i knew this as i threw it on to see if it would start)

...

cleaned my iacv out tonight with carb cleaner and it cured my problem :D

also installed my gauges today after uni :)

IMG_5642copy.jpg

IMG_5643copy.jpg

only got it running tonight so did about 15 miles in it to just bed the rings in, going to do 15 tomorrow then drop the oil out.

Been doing lots of changing down engine breaking to try and push the rings out against the cylinder walls which is something i read. Couldnt help giving it a little bit of beans aswell pulls well, to well infact as i went into vtec quite a few times by accident before it was upto full temp which i wont be doing ever again, too use to the d14 underpowered lump lol. Now going to keep it all under 5k to give it a good run in for a few miles, iv read numerous times the best way to run in though is to use the rev range.

So this is how it sits at the moment, ride height sitting even all round (about time) exhaust fixed and shifted back so it isnt sticking past the lip so much now. Mugen manifold heat wrapped with original heatshield fitted, Ep3 type R wheel, rad stay painted in vht, theres probably more thats been changed since the last update, but will add it in as i recall it...
