My B18C-R EK9 review

love a b18c conversion but what if police notice it? what will happen?

You do realise the B16B and B18B look quite similar? There's no chance a policeman could tell them apart. I'm sure you'd have it insured as a 1.8 anyway so no need to worry.

I would be declaring mine. My insurance company are sweet when it comes to modifications, so I'm fine.

Police may not notice, but if you crash and an assessor comes out its a different story then.

Easy to find where the block says B18C rather than B16B.

Dont mean to be a C**K but I TOLD YOU SO so!:p lol
Glad you like it mate!:nice:

x2

Gee you need to calm down lmao!!

ek9dan: Thats why I said my stock 2001 DC2R is still faster than my modded ek9 on the straights. Torque is what gets you accelerating, not HP>:secret:.........lol...:D

You wont notice as much if you get in from a b16 > B18 but...

if you jump out from a b18 > b16... your reaction is going to be like "WTF is wrong with my B16???!!!! WTF!!!!!"

I can guarantee that 100% you'll be coming back posting more praises to the B18C ahahaha

I've had my b18c jdm in my ek9 for a week now and i have to agree with everything DAN says in his 1st post.

Its a total different driving experience, when u hit the vtec in mines its not got the same noise that comes from the b16b for some reason.

I love the b18c for the acceleration side, it feels twice as quick as the b16b in the lower revs. And 4th and 5th gear just seem to pull for ever compared to the b16b which i thought ran out off puff after 3rd.

Overall im happy with my engine swap :nice:

@JUGBUGS, Oh trust me, ive noticed a MASSIVE difference. The more i drive it the more i cant believe the difference... There is this private road i know of that normaly with B16B i could hit exactly 105MPH, with the B18C i can hit 120MPH!!!! Its messed up lol.

The speed difference is NOT comparable.

i've mine done now about a year and a half, mine came out at 204.5bhp and 150.8ft/lb or torque. with the boot stripped and aircon gone. i'll leave it your imagination what its like to drive. i even feel that the handling is better with the b18c. it feels more solid on the ground.

Yeah, i got air con stripped/no spare tire, no parcel shelf/ no tools/carbon bonnet/carbon spoiler/ Light wheels.... Im going to dyno tommorow so will see what its making. I'll be honest i cant see it making too short of 200-210BHP....

Its dam quick

when i got mine dyno'd the fella told me to get a neo and get it mapped. i got the neo but sadly the car is for sale now so i won't be gettin it remapped. I'd love to see the figures of mine when remapped

Sounds spot on mate, can you pm me the price too. Really curious as to the overall cost of this...

I cant belive the amount of people asking for the price of the swap!
If you have ever fitted/removed an engine then this swap is easy!:secret:
Tell you what anyone who want's to go down the B18 road, Get the B18 yourself & bring the engine & car to me & i will do the swap for anyone for £150! :nice:
Hate seeing/hearing people paying silly money to garages for such a simple job!
