Hey guys basically iv got a 1999 civic vti,b16a2. only mods: bmc cda induction and a decat.

I havent had the car long soo but im wondering whether my mpg should be this low

Iv put £10 of fuel in and i have done 36 miles & there a tiny tiny bit left, i dout il see 50 miles n thats not goin above 3000rpm. you dont even wana know whats its like if you go ito vtec!

is this right? seems very poor to me:(

could there be a sensor problem or anything?

thanks guys

its around 26 mpg, iv just rang honda and they said its usually the oxygen sensor( lambda sensor) and due to handing a decat that doesnt really help :(

although i still dont think it should be that bad!

26mpg and how much city driving? And is the CEL on?

Could be the 02 sensor faulty giving a false reading. Try a ecu reset and see how the fuel consumption is then.

nope the cell light isnt on. the only lights thare are on are srs and abs.

il try reseting my ecu. do you just disconnect it for a period of time?

im guessing you guys are agreeing with me on the fact that my mpg shudent be that low.

you should be getting more MPG than that, especially since you not taking it above 3000 rpm's. If the ECU reset doesn't work I would replace the O2 sensor

Disconnect negative lead off battery for a minute to reset ecu

well iv been doing a few fing on the car, and iv disconnected the battery for for a while a few times so im guessing the reset the ecu option isnt gona work :(

its so annoying, i feel like i dont wana drive the car as it costs me so much! :(

anyone know where the o2 sensor should connect on the loom? as in the location?

Follow the o2 sensor lead :D The sensor is in your header, under the engine. Another option, how are your brakes? If the brake pistons are stuck and keep decelerating your car mpg will also be a lot worse.

Definitely thinks theres something a miss there bud , I have a turbo'd B16a2 on a bad map just now and it didnt use that much .

Al thought i dont know how much the price of a litre is just now , but if thats the MPG then it aint so good :|

Well thanks for all your replies so far guys! :D well I think the sensor has been completely disconnected, so its not connected up at all.( I think) I shell have a look when im on my break.

I don’t think my break are seased, they feel fine to me, although is there any particular way of finding out if then are?

( i love this forum and how people atually try and help you :nice::p)

26MPG is bad?

I have been averaging 25mpg for 2 years and thought nothing of it...

ye 25 is bad, there rated at 33 on parkers for around town, iv spoken to honda and they said it should be well more then 25 aswell

How are you judging your amount of feul left?

Mine often gets so low that I'll go chuck a tenner in and the petrol light will still be on..

26mpg is fantastic, remember our short gear ratios do NOT favor good mpg :( my b16b when NA was getting 25mpg with occasional blasts to 8800rpm tuned on AEM EMS, and the tuning increased the mpg too so yours is just about right.
