HOW TO: make your tailights come on like EK9 ones


is there a reflector where the fog light is did you have to remove that?
 
thats awesome gues the method i was going to use would resulted as this, but wasnt sure if there was an actual connecter or wiring you can get from to do this.
 
these are EK9 sidelights

they are not the same as all civics, they are only found on the EK9 which is why they fetch such a high price compared to normal civic rear lenses

these are not ek9 rear lights

these are non JDM civic rear lights for in this case LHD

as you can see from the picture the bottom left sidelight does not run the entire length of the light, look at the right hand side and you see that the light runs the entire length of the light

this is because the left hand side is for a fog light and has a small reflector that enhances the brightness of the fog light, to make true ek9 lights this small reflector has to be cut away to allow the light to run across the hole light

for RHD uk cars the fog light is on the other side so this process needs doing on the right hand side instead of the left hand side

these are also not EK9 lights

notice that the right lower light where the fog light is doesnt run the full length of the light like the left hand side does

there is a small reflctor to enhance the fog light brightness

cut that reflector off and you very nearly have ek9 lights
 
i did not say they were ek9 light. i know theres a reflector inside but im not boverd breaking out. and why would they nearly be ek9 light, im sure honda made ek9 and ej9 light the same way just adding the the modification to suit each country.
 
It looks utter wank with the oe foglight reflector in it.
 
Dude have you any idea how the EK9 taillights come on opposing to regular civic lights?

normal non type R civics only light up the two top sections of the light when you turn your light stalk one click to your city/parking lights

ek9 civic type r lights light up as per my pic posted above when turned on in the same sequence as above

AFAIK all jdm ek4, ej9 etc rear lights light up the same as ek9 lights with two top two bottom ?
 
if you have genuine ek9 tail lights do they automatically do this? or is it in the harness coming from the car? cause im pretty sure on my car both top and bottom already illuminate (jdm ek9 red and clear tail lights)
