HOW TO: make your tailights come on like EK9 ones


Is your car a daily drive? Reason I ask is if you send me yours, I'll convert them for you
 
Yes is for my daily drive, but I do have a pair spare on the car though... I have tried just directly put the ek9 light on, the lower one on the left was not on...i guess is due to the whole loom setting from front battey:((

If so, the best way is to buy a ek9 rear light loom for my ek just like you suggested?
 
I'd say it's the easiest but it's quite hard to come across some for sale (as with the majority of EK9 parts). Take a pic and upload it on here...I'll try and see what could be done :nice:
 
I've just used the same bulb as the brake light part. As for the reflector thing...I personally wouldn't know.
 
Would you be able to do mine if i sent it you ek9ctr? :)

I bought a set of ek9 ones before as I don't have a clue on how to solder, or own one. But sold the car and now need to do it again on my new one. Thanks :)

@ Kieran. Erm...think they both light up the same. I've got some pics somewhere to show the rear cluster lit up in the various stages...sides, sides+brakes, sides+fogs, brakes+fogs. I'll see if I cam dig them out for you
 
Kieran, check original post, last picture. Fog light is actually brighter than it is shown it this pic. (fog light in left light)
 
This is what mine look like using the standard twin filament bulbs for the power sides+fogs in ek9 taillight units:

Probably covered but ahwell im confused so im gonna ask lol
** How do i know what wires to cut and piece together
** I only want the bottom two as side lights and a fog light, so what bulb do i need?
** Do i need only a bulb or a premade socket, if so where do i get it>?

  • Figured out what wires to use by making edjucated guesses (I can put the wire colours for the fog and the sidelight up tonight if you like).
  • I used the same bulb as the brake/side light on a normal civic
  • I used the top socket from an EJ9.
 
* yeah if you could the colours up that would be good, like yellow to green or whatever.
* so i dont need to buy another bulb?
* i have an ej9 atm so will i need to buy another casing and take the socket out of it?

okay so iv done this mod and it came out perfecto.

luckily in southafrica, we dont have or need a fog light:clap::clap:

just one question: this mod wont damage my cars electrics in anyway??
