Forum terms of usage.

People won't read the terms and conditions which is exactly what it will be "terms and conditions" they will just scroll to the end and click ok. I have acquired a simple solution to the threads you talk about and its simply to ignore them.

Coming from someone who doesn't have an EK9 the reason I use this forum as aposed to others is the fact that I see people who own ek9s as people who clearly know a fair bit about cars as not alot of people actually know they exist.
Also that I know there are quite a few people on here who know a vast amount about civics of all generations and models
How ever saying that I can see why you would all be getting annoyed, there are alot of stupid threads being put up

It's not about excluding other members it's making the forum easier to use for people seeking advice, two sections and no ones left out

I do think the forum should be kept public...but the daft questions need to be stopped.

Make 689R a moderator...Problem Solved

but surely making a OTHER HONDA'S section will no longer make it a "ek9" based forum it will become a CIVIC forum.

ive always like this forum for many reasons.

i feel its more mature than other forums
and i own a ek9 and love finding info and buying stuff from this forum ek4 and jordan i dont mind beucase like what was said before they share ALOT of info and parts.

im just getting a bit sick of same questions and silly pointless questions and also questions about my 1.4 ej that holds no relevance.

for instance i regualary check Integra Type R Forum purely for some reasons parts for b-series, info on dc2's (as my brother owns one, and im just interested in them also) and there is no bullsh*t questions and people that decide to post the bullsh*t do in the off topic section.

this is just my opinion please dont hate me :(

Ban everyone who doesn't own an ek9 !!

.. Ill let myself out :(

I was actually gonna suggest all threads be approved before posting but now i think about it im sure that would be a nightmare to keep on top of.

Hi, I would like to post my two cents worth.

I first became aware of this Forum while seeking information for a complete EK9 front half conversion into my EK3. I did the requisite search and when unsuccessful, I registered and started a thread. The reply was immediate & very courteous. I have been here ever since gathering loads of useful information. Thanks EK9.org!

Many good points have been stated with regards to making the Forum better and eliminating inane post but there in lies the difficulty. It is this ease of access and generally warm reception of the Forum that lends itself to abuse by those differently oriented. I do believe that there is always room for improvement but it must done mindful of what makes this Forum so great. I suggest a high level of PATIENCE for the less intelligible and inane posts. And in the event that patience is out of stock, my suggestion is to IGNORE them.

Let's keep EK9.org the great forum that it is.

The Skyline owners club is a good example of how sections can work. They have a technical section, projects, galleries and stuff for the Skyline then an area for the Stagea as these share a lot of components with the Skyline and also an other rides bit so that people who've moved on from the Skyline or people who let's say for arguments sake are doing an RB26 conversion can share their project and ask questions specific to their car without treading on the toes of other members.

I'm all for club diversity, it's great for people with the subject car to see what's going on outside their specific chassis bubble and great for the little guy to see projects to aspire to.

charge £5 per year for membership to get access to sale and really useful info threads, seems to work for Cliosport ect and cuts out the dross.

True, some people will skip past it, but the CRX one certainly caught my eye as being different, so I read through it and learnt that things like VTEC controllers were considered to be crap so not to start threads on them and so on. I was never calling for the site to be locked down or a Nazi regime of moderation, but I honestly thought that a reworded registration agreement would bring people up to speed on what this forum is about. Drop in a few VTECs in to grab attention and job done. Simple and effective I reckon.

I'll even volunteer to write it up. :nice:

We already tried this but no one was willing to pay :blinx:

Imho extra forums would be shite. The idea on it's own is ok, but it will become really cluttered. We already have 29!! departments! If this continues you will pay more time to scrolling than actually posting :p So not really a practical idea tbh.

Besides that there is the question of what goes where. Questions about a B16B in an EK4, what about those? Or abput 282mm brakes, 98spec DC2's have them too. So where would these go?

Imho more strict moderation with a friendly tone coming from the virtual moderator mouth would be the best way.

This thread has gone astray from the original idea! Are the registration T&Cs a bad idea/waste of time then?

I think it is a very good idea. Maybe enforce them to read it by indeed putting some word somewhere in the middle and then asking for it before the new user can continue.

Good plan, random word in the middle then ask which word seemed out of place.
