A modded EK9 should stay with an Evo up to 60/70 in a straight line but then would lose out to the turbo, on a tight twisty track with no big straights it would be closer (drivers being equal blah blah).
Hammer,Nail,Head!!i think you have solved this by yourself mate,i raced ek9s before i bought mine and my celica just made a joke of the ek9 in a straight line my celica would of been similar power to this evo??320bhp??....he wasnt trying mate,or else he couldnt drive it properly because he should of had you for breakfast....now if it was in the twistys id understand as thats why i bought my ek9 because of its excellent handlingI was very surprised too... unless the EVO thought it didn't need to use full revs

In the situation I was in, i think he was using full revs...and AUS models only have 280bhp/206KW. yeh if it had 320bhp then I'd be long gone. lol
sorry mate, didnt realise it only had 280bhp so thats about say...230 at the wheels and about 440kgs heavier so maybe you did ok
I've suprised a few people in my 9 aswell, one of them was my mates audi A3 1.8T, RR'd at 238BHP, I stayed with him on the straights, and was trying to get by him on the roundabouts! Athough its always an advantage chasing, as you can out brake them, and better their lines etc
