bit of a ameater to the 9, i've always used 10w 40 oil ? on previous civic's on b series, any advantage of using 5w 40 oil??
im servicing mine next week thats all, the full shabam, fuel filter too
thanks dean
Cheers Gents! Sorry for the delay in pics just moved out and i have f all time to do anything at the mo!
On Oil mate the First number before the W is the viscosity at cold and the second number after the W is when hot. So the lower the first number the better protection you have from cold 0 and 5 being much better than 10. After the W 40 seem to be the norm for average climates but in hot climates you'd increase it to a 50 and cold climates a 30.
0 W 30 colder climates
5 W 40 Average climates
10 W 50 Hotter climates
Opie oils recommended the Silkoline PRO S 5W 40 because its fully synthetic and gives one of the best forms of lubrication and protection. It is also very good oil for track use.
To get a more detailed explanation on oil contact Opie Oils or check some of there threads on here. My reply is fairly basic....
