Civic EG6 SIR2 overhaul.

Awesome build! Looking forward to my 9 not being my daily so I can get it to a standard as good as this. Car looks awesome!

What a build! Have you checked for rust under your interior plastics in the rear? Often the rust on an EG starts from within...

Thanks for the comments :))

Quantums will be going back to Quantum at some point for some bits i want doing so there pukka for my needs.

I have had the whole rear of the car out and there's no rust at all, have also had parts of the front carpet up and again no rust, under the car there is no rust this thing really is free of rust which for an EG is very surprising.

I will be taking the front carpet up to remove all the sound deadening then putting the carpet back in place so fingers crossed everything is good under there as well.

Bit of an update, been a little lazy recently but decided to get on with tearing the front knuckles/hubs off the car today due to my extended wheel studs failing causing a lot of excess movement in the wheel when hitting a pot hole, kerb on track etc. so will be fitting some more new front wheel bearings, ARP extended wheel studs and a set of A.I.Tech open ended steel wheel nuts to do away with the nasty Rays Engineering aluminium wheel nuts which caused all this problem in the first place.

Looking sorry for itself, must be that time of year again *

Also got a few other bits that i been buying to fit at some point but really just want to get back out on track *:sniffle:

Well work was a little quiet today so decided to spend my time wisely and work on the car

First things first i needed to get the hubs pressed apart so got them ready to take down to the garage.

Removed the balljoints as im fitting some more new OEM Honda ones

Got them pressed out and got on with removing the studs from the old hubs and cleaning them up ready to fit my ARP studs

All cleaned up, and studs fitted ready to send of to the welder to have the studs tack welded for increased strength.

New driveshafts turned up as well today, J&R driveshafts till i put my order in with MFactory

Not a great deal more i can do till the wheel bearings turn up which there's a 2 week wait *and also waiting for all the other parts from Honda to turn up.

Update !

Been a little busy over the weekend, got my hubs back from the welder so the studs are all tack welded to the hub now so hopefully there wont be any issues with theses again! Got my arse outside in the cold, cleaned up the brakes all round and gave everything a good clean and the once over :)

Hubs back from the welder, just need painting and there ready.

Just waiting on the wheel bearings, trackrod ends, Seal for the halfshaft, Front lower ball joints and some new springs for the front coilovers which i have stil yet to order then it can all go back together and go straight down to TGM Sport to have the GEO and corner weight done :)

Just need them wheel bearings !

Well the wheel bearing's finally turned up the other day, so quickly took them round the garage to have the bearings and hubs pressed back together,

DSC05444.jpg

Also had the bearing and outer seal replaced in the halfshaft, thought while it was off the car i might as well do it.

DSC05443.jpg

Fitted my new 12KG springs as the 10KG were bottoming out to much for my liking, shall see how they go.

DSC05435.jpg

Had a little play about with the Quantum's
Reckon there going to need a bit more work done on them to get the car sitting right but for now they shall stay in the cupboard.

DSC05433.jpg

Not much damper travel so big spring rates will be needed somewhere in the region of 20KG up im thinking being as they came off an EK9 race car there going to be valved for bigger spring rates.

DSC05434.jpg

Everything here except for the lower ball joints which should be here this week then its go go go

DSC05439.jpg

And a big thank you to the......... Space heater, non of this would have been possible as its bloody freezing !!!
