thats not true at all, the backbox does 1 thing, it muffles the sound, it does not affect flow or power in anyway unless its a chambered type of backbox which is rarely used on hondas.

the only reason the spec 2 is bad is cause its so damn loud it gives you a headache  just kidding :)

Blinx, I just measured my exhuast diameter, it is 2.5" exactly on the external, Does that mean the internal is 2.25 or 2.38?

2.36" lol

all this time I thought I had a 2.25" system. When I measured it, the external was dead on 2.5".... so damn suprised me. :) internal is 2.36"

Thats probally why theres so much difference on my bottom end compared to my stock DC2R B18C. Theres a lot more ballz in my DC2R.

your dc2r is also a 1.8 .11" in diameter is not going to make any loss or serious gain enough for you to feel it...

Man, my friend just confirmed with me that if the external diameter is 2.5" then the internal is 2.25" mild steel.

I thought it was a bit strange because the muffler internal diameter looks 2.25" it had me thinking why would they use 2.38in pipes with a 2.25 muffler? haha its all good now.

what about if u just knock the cat though then. will this have the same affect as having new de cat pipe?

Hey Blinx, I've just signed up on here for a nosey really, as I love the EK9, and your thread was the first one I read. I have a Accord type R or Euro R in the states with the H22A7 and will be getting a custom cat-back made up in the next few weeks.

Would a 3" system really give more gains than say 2.5"?? I always thought 3" was a waste and too big on N/A cars??

You would be surprised how much exhaust gas large vtec engines produce at high RPM... I have seen a few dyno tests with 3" exhausts showing gains on nearly stock H22 engines with just uprated intake/header. The only dowside is noise, if you can fit a second small muffler in line that would be great :nice: also ground clearence can be sacraficed... if your car is slammed maybe 2.75" would be better...
