blinx's OFFICIAL EXHUAST THREAD velocity backpressure all explained here.

Good info Blinx, you should have a go on the local NZHondas.com forum, there's a couple of guys on there who love to argue about the "back pressure" myth.

Here's a bit of a story to throw into the mix:

Got 98 spec ITR headers on the B16b (with 2.5 inch collector added), with stock block and head, and of course the ITBs. Tuned with Hondata.

Had a 2.5 inch exhaust with a 900mm resonator in the middle, under the tank and out the side JDM N1 style.

Just changed the exhaust to a twin side exit (out both sides) and boy what a difference! It sounds a bit like a rotary engine (brap brap brap) on idle but at full noise its wondrous, and the power up high is much smoother and stronger.

Care to theorise as to why?

Yeah some people are pretty die hard, i have no desire to argue with people like that, i will let them continue to be ignorant lol... As far as your car goes its just breathing better, I'm guessing the current setup has less bends than the previous setup? It's also a shorter path, it has been said that anything past the collectors exit is just a restriction... Your car spends the majority of its life in high rpm its not shocking to see it feels smoother now, you made it easier for your engine to exhale :nice:

thanks blinx, good info:nice:

i have few questions about b18c 98 spec on my ek4...

firstly i want to have a silent exhaust system...

1) how is ek9 oem catback with b18c?
2) for b18c which exhaust system is the best for my car (it can be after-market catback system)?
