Well I was just got back from the garage after a few ECU start-up adjustments due to it not starting up very well.

Was on my way to town and I ended up hitting a pot hole which effectivly drove me into the partial dry stone wall/hedge (Very strong too), was doing about 50-55 ish.

I don't suppose anyone here has any experience in car saftey, and could tell me if this is a write-off?

Here's some pics after driving it back to base, also it drives perfect still, its just front/side end damage + huge dent in drivers side sill.

totally gutted, feel sick:mad:

Taking all the damage into consideration + the possible repair costs, I think I would be better off buying a rolling shell (Livvy has 1 I think for £800 odd).

My tuner said he can do me a deal and swap everything for £500. It's just a case of getting the cars towed there:nice:

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

James

ouch mate ! sorry to see this, from what you've said you might be better swapping everything into another shell will probz work out cheaper for you in the end

Sry for your troubles? YA definately have to get a new shell with the sill kinked that bad

yes a definite ouch! Sorry to see that. Gutted for ya.

I would say thats a definite possible write off by looking at it from the pictures.

i would have to say its a write off as it would need put on a jig to pull the sill back out and make sure the car is still rolling straight. probably be cheaper to re-shell in the long run. really feel for you, :nono:

to me it looks like a write off with that damage to the sill . even if it isnt as i always say a car is never the same once being invloved in a accident . with your tuner offering you such a good deal to swap over everything for you and if you are mechanically minded yourself i would suggest buying a rolling shell . as you say livvy has one for around the 800 mark .

sorry to hear this dude . at least your ok thats the main thing . presuming you are

sorry to hear that mate, at least there's no engine damage, or that would have cost even more £££'s....

Thanks for the helps guys! Yeah I'm good, wasn't going fast after all, It just caught me odd gaurd as I wasn't even expecting it..

This Ek9 had been involved in a track based accident before It got imported (it was possibly a high-ish comp turbo build). I gave it another chance, fixing it spending quite a bit to get it right.

Just as It was getting there, this happen's. I feel soo sad to have to scrap it after all the parts have been swapped over.

Cheers,

James

Sad to hear about this man, been following how much work you've put into this car of late!

There's still positivity in any situation though - the question is, what can you learn from this experience?

Hmm, never use county roads! Seriously, expect the impossible at all times, as pretty much anything could happen.

+ haha the good news, it starts first time now -after the Ecu tweaks

Glad to see you staying light hearted about it, one of the greatest things we can do is to never let life bring us down...

that will deafinately be a re-shel jobbie, having personally done it myself its not too hard a job.. a jig alone would cost over £700 thats what i was quoted just to put chassis legs straight!

Mate I feel sick for yah bud... especially after seeing this in one piece a couple of days ago. Hope you get it sorted matey.

Sorry to be reading this James. You could probably fix it but the amount of jig time needed to straighten/line everything up would cost a fortune. best bet buy another shell and swap everything over:nice:

I just contacted livvy and she still has the 99' facelift Ek9 rolling shell! :). The future looks bright :)) Just need to get my car towed up there, + the shell :nice:

:shocked::shocked:I cant belive i am reading this aft seeing the car MINT on sat:shocked::shocked::shocked:

I really feel for you mate, i cant think how you must be feeling right now!

As you have already said a re-shell is you best option with this one!

If you were closer to me mate i would swap it all over for you for free!

very sorry to hear this man,
but just keep your head up about getting everything in a new shell!

mate thats shocking,, Livvy on here has a nice shell for sale that woudl be teh way to go, as i think ufortunately yours is defo going to be a write off with that extensive damage to teh sill area
