VIP Forum

yea i agree, at the moment. But if its just something you pay for then it wont be.

I agree with whats just been said but as you are subscribing to the site for the VIP status i think it will only be the people who are active involved daily. People who are just on now and again are going to see the point in pay for that part of site. Although i havent donated to the site yet i am more that happy to subscribe to help out. And will donate when i can.

IMO this should be for long term dedicated members who both donate and regularly support the forum with helpful positive posts.
Allot of people seem to join when they first get any random Civic, post loads as they are very enthusiastic about their new car then fade into the back ground after 6-12 months.
Thanks Dunx

I agree, VIP is something that should be earnt, but how do you judge that?

Although i havent donated to the site yet i am more that happy to subscribe to help out. And will donate when i can.

If you haven't donated, how are you a VIP?

I was interested at first, but now I can't be bothered, I'm happy to stay in the the regular section.

Subscribe? No idea what that means, it's all gone over my head TBH. To me a forum is a free medium for people with a collective interest to chat and help each other out, I understand that RVM requires donations to keep the site running but beyond that the whole subscriber/VIP thing seems a bit superflous to the core intent of the site.

I would understand if the VIP section was made up soley of long serving members who had earnt the title, and the content of those sections ended up less spammed with inane topics as a result, but if you can just pay to get in then I'm sorry but I do not see the point.

As a disclaimer, I know nothing of running a forum so don't listen to me. :p

I have donated and have been on here nearly every day for last 2 years :wow: Its an addiction.. I will try donate again to get me into the vip area if that ok.. :nice:

I'll check into why you haven't got a donator logo under your user name if you have donated already.

Is this some sort of secret clubhouse for EK9 cool cats only?? Whats the secret password?

i agree with this statement but then for instance say not anyone could subscribe to vip and that rvm was the person to choose the vip's , this might be a touchy subject as people might start complaining that "he got picked for vip and i didnt". its hard to no how to go about it... just a thought :D

not a huge fan of the whole vip thing was like that on mlr and a lot of members left, u never know it might work

Maybe but then that's the whole point of 'VIP' isn't it.

There's a rep function on here thats already been in use for god knows how long, maybe base it on that. Something like 500 points required to gain access to VIP status. Users would need to be made more aware of the rep function obviously as it doesn't always get used where it should, but that is the most logical way to do it IMHO as it's a good indication of a users contributions to the forum.

Meet the set points requirement and make your donation and you are in. Simples. :D

but not many people use the rep function, i've helped out alot of lads on the forum with problems with there cars but havent been rep'd for it, i just got a thanks so does that mean i cant be a vip some day even tho im helping people out just because there not repping me.... i dont think basing it on reps will work

Yes there is this problem. It is not a perfect solution, merely an ideal one.

Subscribing means you get additional extras?? Like when you buy a car, you can up it by getting extras such as fog lights etcetc. So I'm guessing VIP is just the same. Additional extras for those that want it? Not like it's a class thing I don't think. Better for those that use the site regularly as you get those that go on for a few minutes n log in every so often to check up and away again. And you'll get those that are never off it lol. This happens to every site whether it's eBay, YouTube, Facebook etc.

Timmy is right in what he's saying, its only an extra forum for those who want it. Nothing to do with class's etc as everyone is treated equally on here and you dont have to be a dedicated user to realise that. Thats why the site is as good as it is as we have a great community and most of the time no hassle and that. So yeah just look at the VIP section as like a optional extra if you want it cool.. if you dont thats also cool. The forum gets bigger and better every day with more and more users signing up and imo these ideas and updates are good additions to keep the forum fresh and up to date, if they work they work if they dont fair enough at least it shows that admin/mods are still working hard coming up with ideas trying to make the site better and better.

We value your opinions massively guys so keep them coming and remember if you have any ideas of your own dont hesitate to pop them in the support/suggestions section :nice:

cheerz.
