Yes lads. I have a b16b ek9 that I got 2 months ago and I took it to the dyno there Saturday past :nice: but I only managed to get 181.7 at the flywheel out of it :nerv: I was thinking on doing some big work to this car but before I do I dont know either to do the work to the b16 or swap it for the bigger b18... I heard that I could put a 16 head onto a 18 and this would boost up the compression but I don't know if the 16 head would take the pressure? Please could someone help :please: :thanks:

The head of a B16b is actually the same as a 98 spec B18C, the 96 spec B18C only differs in cams. So if you put a B18C bottom under the B16b head you effectively have a B18C. I think that would also be one of the first upgrades to do if you really want more power and torque. Even though the B18C N/A has limited headroom to make extra power (since the hp per litre is already high) this goes even more for the B16b. So imho first thing to do after bolt ons or even before is replacing the B16b with B18C.

Which dyno did you run it on? Some dynos run very low figures,

181 is good for a stock one.

Yea its good lads but I want over the 200 mark as I love the car and want to keep up with dc5's as I am only 2 maybe 3 car lengths in me and them right now :p

IMO B18 are unreliable even if lightly tuned. They spin big end bearings. If you motor isn't smoking its not worth all the expence for 15hp. Just get some decent semi slicks and do a few track days with the money you have saved.

I'll have my DC5 out again before Easter so we'll have another run then ;)

It's not just the 15bhp you're investing in though, it's the extra torque across the Rev range which makes the difference. Get some more displacement in there.....then get semi slicks :)

That will do Maffy :D true lad need to look into some more parts to see what I would be improving by

No limit hi was going to get each part as I had the money :) why what would you recommend :)

K20 6speed, no other way to fly.

Ive done the d16y8 build, Ive done the b16 after the D16...even did the B18c5 and a fully rebuilt b18c5...for me nothing prior compares to a bone stock k20.
