Project milano red dc2

Thanks for the comments guys.

Just when I thought it was all coming together i've ran into a potentially big problem, any help recommendations would be appreciated.

Somehow the threads where the oil pressure sensor fits (on the block) are damaged, i'm guessing this is due to the brass T piece fitting I used to fit the turbo oil feed line. As a result of this, oil is leaking badly! I could cut some new threads but I'm concerned that the metal shavings will fall into the main oil gallery.... so i'm a little stuck for ideas.

Damn, I don't know what to recommend. The only proper way would be to strip the lot and re drill/tap for the next size up. Either that or have it welded shut and run a sandwich plate ??

I know mate really a bad situation to be in, was thinking helicoil bit dont want any swarf getting into the oil gallery... welding it shut sounds like a good idea though

Saying that though - providing you were careful any swarf would be pushed straight out when the engine is switched on. If you disconnected the oil feed line from the restrictor/turbo it should just spray out. A bit risky lol. You could always try using a strong vacuum as well. Again- a bit risky. Would I do it ? I guess it depends if I was having a mad moment or not lol.

lol I think I've decided what I'm going to do.... Remove the turbo kit, fix the thread on the rear of the block, run it NA for a week or 2 to make sure all is good, refit the kit and hope for the best, the last thing I want to do is screw the engine AND a brand new turbo.

That's a sensible(ish) idea. Remember to do a few oil changes and watch for particles/metal shavings in the oil. You'll also be wanting to cut the oil filters open and inspecting them. You'll know that way for sure if it was a good idea or not. You need to make sure you drive it HARD as well. ...

How bad is the thread? Is there any thread left in the block? If so I would think about trying a chemical metal, I know it sounds like a bodge but it may well work, I've used it in the past and been successfull,

If it were me I'd give it a go before risking getting any metal particles in the system

Chemical metal around the bolt thread and then screw it in and wait for it to go hard?
Might actually work. Worse case is it doesn't and leaves abit of a mess of the thread that's left.

Yep exactly! Giving everything a very good clean with a solvent will help give it a better chance

Doing some great work there mate, brilliant car hope it all comes together for ya..

Thanks for the comments lads, a friend suggested chemical metal but im not sure it will set properly due to the oil? Ive decided im going to blank it off and relocate the oil pressure sensor and oil feed to an oil sandwich plate.

It's worth a try. You'll need to ensure the threads are totally spotless and free of oil. You could try some kind if sealing washer on the end covered in silicone as well ??? You'll need to make sure the fitment is tight.

Yes!! So far so good :)
Ive been driving it about for the last few days, no leaks, no knocks no funny business lol
I'm going to drop the oil and change the filter again over the weekend.

Good, good. Hopefully it should hold (I can't see why not). That stuff is pretty strong.

dam! this is one sexy build! i love dc2's, engine bay looks really clean to!
