Well, thought I may as well start a thread about my car - I hope no one minds a cheeky teg thread? Only this is the forum I come on to most despite it not bearing a great relevance to my new car. I WILL own another ek9 one day!
I started off with a pre facelift ek9 and loved it, really couldnât see what I would replace it with.
Had that for just over 2 years in the end enjoyed every minute, but then my mate decided he wanted to sell his K20 DC2 and always loved my ek9 so we came to a deal.
This is the teg as I bought it in late November:
Basic spec then was:
spec DC2
JDM K20A (rumoured to have been to Spoon Type 1 but no evidence of this - Iâll assume it hasnât)
'98 spec hubs and Sprint replica wheels
Project MU front callipers, pads and 2 piece discs
Project MU rear pads and discs
Custom full width radiator
Trust oil cooler and filter relocation kit
Ohlins âgranite specâ coilovers (20kg front, 16kg rear)
ATS Carbon clutch
ATS 1.5 way LSD
ATS Final drive
Greddy oil temp + pressure gauges
Pivot racing speedo/rev counter/water temp/shift light unit
Mugen bushes
DC5 ECU
Dynodaze power run print out - 225bhp / 151ft lbs
Tegiwa 3 point front brace
Bonnet risers
Sparco steering wheel
White ball gear knob
First on the list was engine and gearbox oil change, whilst I was there I took the oil cooler off as this isnât really needed for my daily driving. Kept the filter relocation though as thatâs a handy addition! Glad I did now as one of the ports snapped clean off the oil cooler with NO effort, turns out it was made of cheddar. The bonnet risers had to come off so a small section was removed from the bonnet skeleton to enable it to close properly.
Then it was time to get rid of the insanely hard coilovers for an Eibach Pro Kit and Bilstein B6 dampers.
Annoyingly this put it on the deck, so a quick trip down to Bilstein and they put some more circlip grooves in the dampers so I can raise it. Sits like this now:
The steering wheel was replaced with a 350mm Personal Grinta - have to see how this wears! The gauges + pivot unit have been moved to a tidier looking location where the clock used to be, wires have been run up through the dash and through the clock hole too.
The ECU was also in the passenger foot well along with a host of other wires and controller units for the gauges. These have also been tidied!
Fitted a polished OEM DC5 gear knob
So thatâs where it is now, I still have Eibach adjustable front balljoints to go on to sort the camber out, along with adjustable rear arms, and then its time to save money for a custom exhaust and a good mapping session!
