Planning to rebuild a B16

Good day everyone, after 270.000 kilometers, I'm planning to rebuild my B16A2.
My optimistic vision wants to build an affordablish engine with the power of a spicy B16B, or maybe, near to a B18C (I know will not be the same thing, but...).
Even so I want to put an LSD and I'am a little bit undecided about, to put a brand new LSD or a S80 GearBox...
I've already buyed B18C Camshafts, and I don't know which kind of pistons to chose, CTR ones or forged ones?
I'm open to every suggestion, thank you in advance

ITR cams are similar or the same to CTR cams depending on the year. Not so wild.
I'd use Nippon PCT pistons - in that case as you won't need to rev super high. If you were using something really high lift you'd need to rev higher and forged pistons would be necessary.

You won't get the b18c performance - it has a longer stroke and so a jump in torque. You should get to 180bhp though.

As long as I know B18 cams are yes pretty identical to CTR, but very different from the B16A2, so it will be a good upgrade.
Also I don't want to limit my upgrades to bare internal, but even on the intake side, working and porting the head / intake manifold, buying a Mugen / Tegiwa Airbox and so on.
For sure I'll do a ECU map over the mechanical upgrades.
We'll see.

I've already some bolt off mods, like full exhaust system 4-2-1, ported B16A2 intake manifold, and CDA Airbox by BMC (I hate this on engine bay).

98 Spec cams are CTR, 96 spec are a shade less lift or duration.

Both are a decent amount "better" than an B16A2 cam, yes.

Personally if you're going to all the effort of porting I'd be fitting some wilder cams, but I expect its possible to get improvements with those. - Not anything you'd be able to feel on the "butt dyno" though.

I had a B16A1 (I've had basically the full set of B series engines) that was built by Mardi Gras for Honda's race and rally team at the time. Late 80s.
This thing was ported beautifully, and was skimmed to "death" - waaaay past the service indicators. It was also fully blueprinted and balanced. I ran CTR cams in it that I had at the time, and a good (Toda Rep) 4-2-1 and a DC2 airbox.
Never had it on the dyno in that guise but it felt exactly like the 2x B16B engines I ran in the same car in that season. (They were about 180bhp with all those breathing mods).

- Basically there isn't much chance you'll get far past 180bhp no matter what you do with those cams. That's already a shed load of power for a 1.6.

Keep in mind that the CTR PCT pistons will jump your compression to around 12:1, so you'll have to run higher grade fuel. That compression would be great for the ITR/CTR cams and piston-to-valve clearance would be fine if your head is close to stock, but someone with actual experience will be able to answer that. I would get a good 3" intake with a velocity stack and port the stock TB to 64mm. With a decent 4-2-1 and a 2.5" exhaust it will be a respectable B16 for sure, making more than a stock B16B with the same cams and higher compression.
