Basically was wondering the handling level of these cars, why and comparisons etc modified and not, you get the drift

Cheers

Well they don't drift, any car can handle. How you handle the car is different though.

Sure enough they don't drift ff haha! Okay not worded to correctly, Im assuming the cars handle pretty well as otherwise why would they race etc but just how good?

Have you not driven one of the above before?

Im curious why your asking? Are you looking at making a track car? Buying one of the above? Orrr....

Okay was a long shot couldn't quite word it correctly just wanted to know how good they are on the street but what is good lol no worries

My 9 is the best fwd handling car I've been in but I reckon it could do alot better in the hands of a good driver!

I would say the Ek Chassis is very good, and with mods can be a very capable car. A Ek9 will allways woop a EK4 out of the box. EG nice and light, and DC2 again out of the box very capable if it's better than a sorted EK i think that is personal preference. Whatever chassis can be made better wit the right mods, and i allways say start with the safety related components first, Brakes and suspension, bushes and correct alignment. Lots of people run far to high spring rates and spoil such a good car.

The EK9 has the wheelbase, geometry, weight distribution and complementary suspension setup to be a terrific package out of the box

for me its the best out of the 3...

it is very grippy at the front and to help it turn the rear end has some degree of slip...but controllable and predictable unless youre doing silly speeds and have no idea how to drive...then it will bite you the same as any car

the EG civic has a horrible trait I dont get on with where at speed if you get bump steer the rear end wants to put you into the nearest wall/hedge/tree...controllable but its a nervy nervy car on the limit

the DC2 (although sharing much of its suspension with the EG) is much improved and is on a similar level to the EK9. The rear end doesent step out as much to aid turning like the EK9's does but hey ho

and unless your breaking the law you will never see the 'Type R' aspect to these cars on the street

hope that some way to answering your question

From what I've always read it's the other way around; the DC2 being the tailhappy car (and the 96 spec JDM more so than 98 spec) and the EK9 being the more neutral...Have never heard of the EK9 being known for tailhappy. The DC2 I drove (stock suspension) could easily be oversteered by letting go of the gas in a corner. On more than 1 occasion I have corrected my own turning in error by letting go of the gas just a little bit to easily get the nose to point to the apex of the corner.

Topicstarter: DC2 Type R/EK9 > EK/EG, where the EG has a small weight advantage.

Yes tbh it did answer my questions just wanting to know how good handling they can be, and dc5? What about other cars in comparison? And Im mainly wanting to know just for understanding the chassis and the car

DC5 is less hardcore than DC2. I believe that general consensus is that a DC2 or EK9 with same engine as DC5 will kill DC5 on track.

i think it's very personal...

I personally prefer my 9's handling but just due to the fact that it can be steered brutally, specially if you let the tail just get out enough and play with the throttle a little..

DC2 is a very very fun car too. EG not known as well as EP or DC5.

I think the handling on any type r would surprise the hell out of anyone who hasn't driven one before. Maybe not the fn2/ep3 but yea...

The DC2 I drove (stock suspension) could easily be oversteered by letting go of the gas in a corner. .

depends on many factors but from my experience of both cars I find the EK9 will slide the rear more readily, less weight over the rear wheels...

I can't give my findings as I've never driven en EK9, but weight is not the only factor of course :) Are you comparing stock to stock?

Most cars will oversteer when lifting off the throttle...
