Well I finally plucked the courage to do what a bought my Civic for,I brought it around Mondello for a thrashing !!

I didnt know the track at all so my experienced friend Ger went co pilot with my and talked me through the circuit.I was more nervous than excited about it,so I let groups go by to give myself a bit of space to make a mistake....

....and on my first run a mistake was made lolski A combo of damp track/wrong line/wrong gear/bad driver meant one of the corners the tail slide out and i couldnt correct it and ended up spinning and ending up and the middle of a corner checking my mirror for cars about to run into me !

I found the back of the car twitchy all afternoon, but I'm thinking maybe its the tyres I have on the rear.I replaced the front with T1Rs but left the rear(theres about 5/6mm on them),and maybe the Potenzas werent matched to the Toyos.

I got a lot braver the longer it went on and drove a bit harder and found I was gaining time on people in front, but once I got in a pack I eased off as I'd rather not have a track car scrapping off me,or ruining someone elses day due to something a noob would do:uhoh:

Delighted with the breaks I got off Baz(Vttr pads/discs),they were spot on,although I was breaking very early in the hard corners.

I had to come in earlier than I'd have lighted as my half a tank of fuel wasnt enough for the full morning!

All in all, very happy with the car around the track(especially as I didnt loose any oil:grinno:),but if it was my dedicated track car I'd have enjoyed it a bit more, and on the way home someone was strimming there lawn and a massive stone bounced off my window and nearly gave me a heart attck :haha: but a good bit of fun for a Mondello noob

Hopefully I can find pics soon to go with this

Wicked write up mate, glad to hear you enjoyed it. Had a few setbacks on getting mine on track recently but can't wait till the day comes!!

Sounds like you had a good time, always better to let other cars past so you can take your time - many drivers dont. A spin or two is ok, shows commitment, and much is learned from mistakes imo, sure the risk of hitting something is always there but its all part of trackdays, especially in damp/wet condtions. Many dont bother to experience the car on the limit - they are missing out :naughty:

:pics:

Sounds great dude!!!
you'll be itching to get back out there now i bet!!!

Sounds goods man, cant wait until I get the courage to go to Mondello!

Only got hold of 2 pics so far:nono:

Not sure yet man, whats the craic with that anyways? Just a big open trackday?

It's nice to hear your great experience at Mondello and satisfaction with your car.Enjoy and keep safe while driving.

EVERYONE should experience their ek9 on track, it's soooooo much fun getting to push it, you find the real limits of the car which you will never find (safely) on the road

Yes u must use same tyres all round, otherwise handling will be bad and dangerous, tyres arnt designed to mix n match

Went a bit wide around that corner me thinks ;)

Haha I know,I didnt fancy telling the insurance company I'd had a tap in Mondello so I let groups past and tried to get as much track for myself as I could

And I'll be putting T1Rs on the back for next time too,for the sake of 100 euro I'd rather for 4 the same tyres!

Hey Johnny, When I had the car I tried a set of Rota wheel's fitted with new T1R's and I found the handling terrible with them, the rear was sliding around alot so can't say id recommend them. Just my opinion.
