Been quite a few threads lately with some absolute rubbish in them, my english isnt great but, here are some classics from a recent thread in the exhaust section...

wat - what?
de - the?
der do - there though?
netin - nothing?
wit - with?
gettin - getting?
any1 - anyone?

What a load of absolute sh*te, I must be getting old :p

My personal favourite - 'der do'

Dare i say it, the majority of posters "text typing" are our Irish members too..

Maybe just a coincidence?

I find it annoying too...must be getting old as well! 32 in 5 days time:angry:

your not getting old, lol. im 18 and its annoying, some words arent to bad to understand but some as just annoying and i would rather read the actual word..

ha ha thought it was just me , finding iam having to read some of the two times or more to understand whats beening said . on the local forum no text talk allowed . maybe no schools in those areas

I too find txt talk very annoying. This forum has no rules section because we have never needed one but i am thinking maybe we should start one with NO TXT TALK as the number 1 rule ;)

It really does my head in, doesn't make it any quicker to read!!!

You have a full keyboard in front of you, PLEASE USE IT :nono:

i think we should get mods that can give people a warning if you use really bad slang.

i think any1, goin, and slang like that isnt to bad.

but like de instead of "the" is pointless and confusing!

I agree, i try to send users who do that messages explaining that this is an international forum and txt talk only makes it harder for us to all understand each other, i urge every user to do the same if they see txt talk, but please be polite.

I frequent a forum with a txt filter, it works well - seems to filter out the morons.
I think they get fed up of their posts turning into a load of stars, and then leave :p

Dyslexia doesn't wash with me either. Both IE7 and Firefox have spell checkers.

I hate it.

It is actually harder to read than plain english!

There should be a rule stating to use full text rather then txt in their posts

Im 22 and trying to read some of the so called street talk is like trying to read welsh sometimes,

your not alone!

You guys can also do what I do when I'm in a bad mood, i just make fun of the person txt talking or i ignore them completely and don't answer there question ;)

whats that susposed to mean.

i've seen none/very little people using text talk on this site. i know its a pain to read.

anybody thats using it should just get a warning, they usually cop on after that

well lets make sure that were kept this site a 'FULL ENGLISH' words and none of that txt spk! (althought saying full english and its lunch, i quite fancy a sunday morning fry up!)

Blinx i have to agree with you on that one! - i'd had quite a few Private Messages with nothing but text speak and havign read things serval times over, i think whats the point!

Is a text speak filter possible??

I am in full agreement,,
i dont use text speak but sometimes i do type a bit fast and post without checking my spellings,, i write "teh" instead of the all the time and stuff,, will try and be a bit more carefull in future. you would think at 28 i would be able to write properly by now!!

i do it quite a bit myself without noticing.. kind of annoying though..

It means EXACTLY what i have written. The text speak has been more common of late & appears to be more prevalent amongst the irish guys.

Maybe its a location thing?

I fully support the ban of its use like everyone else:nice:

When i type fast i sometimes miss out the g on the end of words ending with ing. I will be more careful though. Your definitely not getting old, I'm 19 and it pisses me off. take's twice the time to read the post:nono:
