Ek9 or ep3????


Where does the ek9 fair round Tsukuba?

One 10th off dc5. So what where honda doing in the early 2000's? Seems they didn't make much improvement to the r range
 
Just to add- fd2 is 1 second quicker around tsukuba and 4 seconds quicker around Suzuka compared with the dc5.
These tests were carried out by honda.

On the other hand the dc5 is 1 second quicker than the dc2 around tsukuba. Food for thought.:)

Mmm, k20 in a dc2 = win then. :)
 
Isnt it great that we have all these options to change our cars any civic in my book is great but ek9 has to be the epycentre of them even on looks alone. Did any of yous see the spoon tuned ek9 11000 rpm vs stock ek9 theres some difference

you just gotta go out and drive the cars mate.. EK9 for some is far to raw my mate bought an EP3 after going in my EK9 cause he said its just too raw, he'd own one for the track but not for daily or even weekend use.

For me i wanted to make my EK9 even more raw and i used it daily.. everyday for 6 months.. even days i didn't have to go out i would purposefully make a trip to use the EK9.. so i don't feel giving you my opinion is valid as it will be way to biased towards the Ek9 obviously

facts will only tell you so much, you will know exactly which car you want once you have driven them both .

if you still are completely torn between the 2. buy with your head and buy with your wallet in mind :)

i will petition for your life time ban if you choose the EP3 though :p jks man.

go drive a ek9 and then a dc2, and then buy the dc2 and save yourself a couple of grand :thanks:

We can't decide for him, it's all down to what he wants. I don't drive my ek9 much so I love getting it out and it's raw! I know people say ep3 are faster, but I gave my mate a race (private road) ;) he said his ep3 wasn't standard and my ek9 and I literally smashed his back doors in to 100 on more the one occasion. He just couldn't get his power down. As for the FD2 from what iv seen they are pretty awesome cars!

I've owned an EK9 and driven a few EP3/FN2s and for pure driving thrills and enjoyment I'd say 9 every time. On the other hand if I was to buy one now id be tempted to a ep3 premier with Recaros etc.. Reason being it has a better image, newer and more tuning ability.

My advice would be drive both and decide from there. BUT I'd buy an EP3 JDM OR premier and fit an LSD to the UK on and a few bolt ons & Map to make DC5 power or more
 
Driven both and prefer the 9. The 9 is quicker up to about 80mph. When on track i must of passed 3 EP3s. They look so wobbly round the bends and even on the straights I could hold them off.

There are rumours that the UK EP3s were originally meant to be the sport or VTI replacement but honda re badged it the Type R and produced en mass.

The REAL EP3 Type R are the JDM ones. More power, LSD, Recaros, Red interior, Better tuning, Different cams etc.

The Japs always keep the good stuff to themselves and gives the rest rebadged VTI's.

ep3 newer, more comfortable and in my opinion better looking. Better top end and k20 easier to tune and get more power from.

ek9 more raw, feels more planted round corners, vtec alot more aggressive, as said quicker 0-80mph.

totally agree with this, iv got both at the min, the ep3 is a uk model and i feel its just a mondern version of my old ek4 vti. jdm ep3 - ek9 might be more of a fair comparison. iv never driven a jdm one so i cant fault them but uk spec is crap.
 
k20 is all EP3's has going for them, which can be swapped into a EK9.
I guess one could try to swap an entire independent suspension...lol

K20 Easier to tune? Not really. - More expensive aftermarket parts (yes), more gains from mods (yes). Wonder why it has a better top end being a 2litre.. hmmph.

Ek9s will stick with most stock Ep3s till 3rd maybe 4th gear.

Like most have said before, K20 swap into dc2, ek chassis = Win - end of....
 
Even b18 ek9 is a decent run for ep3 I would have thought?
