on the doors dude. looks a little smaller than i was hoping. went for 400mm width to run between the number square and door handle. now it's done it looks like i could have opted to go a little bigger. i think it looks pretty good though.
Managed to clean it yesterday after fitting my Spoon replica spoiler (cheap as chips but a terrible fit lol). Tempted to give it a quick wax tonight if find the time
A little. I think about it now and then and can feel the worry hitting my chest
I'd be much happier with a trackday under my belt. Almost 5months since last driving the thing on track and only got 15min to get used to it again before the race starts (on a track I haven't driven on for 5 years).
Same! Fancied a 15 minute session on the Friday but you can only buy half or full day, Im sure we wont be the only ones not to have been round though. HOT Donny was a while back! We will be arriving Friday afternoon if all goes well & I can still fill my car up
Hi clockwoRk
Well done on some really hard work. I watched the on board footage and looked fine to me, looks like you knew your way round there.
So i bet your a bit more excited about the next race.
i dunno. I was banging the limiter an awfull lot in that first race lol
MB6 calipers and 282mm discs on the front and standard EK4 242 setup on the rear. Yellowstuff pads all round, goodridge hoses and castrol response super dot 4.
I've bought a pair of wilwood midilights and DS2500s off freakyparts but dont have any wheels that will clear them so they're on hold for the moment.
Spent my day off fitting my new brakes and wheels.
No pics but first replaced the brake master cylinder with 1" and the servo with an 8"+9". The servo was an absolute sod of a job, made no easier by the cage and bucket seat meaning getting to the stuff in the footwell was quite a painful experience. Had to move my steering breather and fuel filter out of the way and took the brake pedal braket off the servo and was only just able to wiggle it into place.
But other than that....
Poking his head out of the kennel
Before
After - a mild aestetic improvement
Under the new boots
Shot of the new wheels. Think my white yokohamas suit the car better but I don't mind them in the least.
I'm not convinced by my bleeding as the pedal doesn't feel it's most convincing. I done it just on my own using one of those clear hoses with a one way valve.
But then on previous occasions the pedals always started off spongy and then firmed up after a couple hundred miles of driving. I'll take it for a tear round next week in the evening sometime to bed in the pads so I'll see how they go then.
I had done a trackday there about 3 years ago but definitely felt in a bit of a disadvantage to most with my familiarity of the circuit. Unforunately the practice/qualifying session didn't really help as it was pretty was wet and very slippery with one of the guys dropping oil on to the track. Ended up qualifying 15th of 18 with 2:01:374. Race 1 as you'll see in the link wasn't going too bad at first, netted a place off the start and was starting to get a feel for the dry track and new brakes whilst defending (hence the tight entry on a few of the bends) and really enjoying it.
Came to an end on the final bend of lap 3 when there was a sudden hard thud and the car understeered wide. Halfway down the pit straight I realised my steering wheel was no longer straight and the front felt very vague with no grip when turning right. I limped back and retired the car thinking I might have snapped the trackrod end but on inspection it turned out the camber adjuster on the front left had slipped to full positive.
managed to sort everything to get out for race 2 but lost so much time after snapping one of the bolts that it was all a bit of a rush job and the camber and toe on the left was still well out, feeling pretty bad on the right handers and on the brakes.
Could've been much worse though so not cursing my luck too much
Going to miss Silverstone with lack of funds so next outing will be at Croft in July.
