Wow...this is a really cool thread, I am currently working on a conversion on a usd ek.
Suspension:
-22mm rear ek9 sway bar, to use this you need ek9 rear lower control arms or any aftermarket units with holes for the endlinks, also keep in mind when using such a large diameter bar on a NON-type R you MUST use a sub frame reinforcement brace such as the COMPTECH, ASR, or BEAKS kit. without this kit the bar will tear out of the subframe as teh factory ek9 has a reinforced subframe the factory ej6/ek4 etc... does NOT.
Would it be ok to use a ek9 antiroll bar on my ek4 sir, It should line up and fit.. as there is one on it and the ek9 one would just be thicker??
I shall start a build up thread..
hey guys well to say lucky guys that have type r's i need someones help, i'm wanting to import a ek type r to america does anybody have any information about ways to do this?
Hi.i am new here.im from vancouver canada.i would like to convert a local EK here, where is a good place to start and how much am i looking at?im not sure if we have the same EKs with USDMs.im am not sure if we have EK3/4s here or whatnot.please help me out.thanks a lot.
also i am thinking of having a b18c5 instead..good idea?or not?
if you guys know any place i can have these parts for conversion, please let me know.
thanks so much and long live EKs!
your vin number will tell you which ek or ej you have. You can start anywhere, just don't start at more than one place at a time, for example this is what i did:
-first i did suspension and brakes, i did not mod anything else till i was finished with that.
-next i did the exterior, full ek9 conversion and i did no mod anything else till the exterior was complete
-after that i did the interior
-and finally i did the engine
you don't have to go in that order, but its best to pic one aspect, focus on that and move on only once finished. It's much more satisfying and you get to really enjoy the car every step of the way
