EJ6 & EK4 to EK9 CTR Conversion Guide / Thread


So this conversion thread can turn an EJ6 into an EK9 replica.. and still perform like an EK9 ? Handling, etc.

i think so, you can always modify any car to be better, if you follow this guide your ej6 will resemble a stock ek9, if you take my advice and upgrade some parts instead of buying oem it will be better:

like if you opt for the ITR engine instead
or get coilovers instead of the stock ek9 shock/springs

vtecroadhog: i dont have a short shifter, i have a factory integra GSR shifter which is a lot shorter than the factory ej6 shifter :nice:

Great thread! Im planning on getting itr engine instead of the ctr...any suggestions, thoughts?

excellent of course :D i have a lot of suspension work, handling is very important to me, the engine swap was the last thing i did.
 
I'm fairly sure the ek9 and other ek side skirts are the same, they just have to be paint matched.
In the US you will need an ek9 dash with the large vent right on the top middle. All ek9 interior panels are black, other ek's have a dark or light grey interior panels. For a conversion you can either switch to ek9 panels, or dye yours black.
You will also need the ek9 blue colored fuse box cover, in the engine bay.
An ek9 cigarette lighter panel is also different from a US spec one.
A red stiching shift boot is also needed.

Good thing about the EK4 it already has the black dash and interior panels - the cigarette lighter panel is also exact same!

I've never seen a 9 with a blue fuse box cover tho - any pics?
 
You know what, I'm not even sure that the ek9 had a red stitch boot, maybe it does but maybe its just something that was stuck in my head.
Could the real ek9 owners with both regular and type Rx ek9's chime in on this? Here we are 2 US guys making a spec sheet on car's we don't own:lol:

pre face lift doesnt have red stitch, only face lifted models. Face lifted models have different centre console and drink cup holders. Another difference is preface lifted models have orange rear indicators where as new model has clear, oh and ctr has 4 globes on their rear cluster, ek4 has only 3.
 
my ek4 has this "hevy arm rest " :D & recently fitted EP3 ctr seats... seats recline fine tho EP3 seats r maybe smaller then RECARO'S.

it can easily be fitted to ek9, and makes vry good storage use for daily ctr :nice:

anyways....i did the SI conversion on mine..its runs ok im happy with it

what i was wondering is. how much you guys pay to get a type r ek to the states??

how much do the japs sell the type r over seas....being aware that it is old car over there!

i was planing to do the right hand drive conversion but i duno if should just sell my car and buy a jap one!!

let me know ok? i need to do some estimates

hello, if you check your VIN tag it will tell you if its ek or ej, if it has a sohc its an ej which is usdm 96-00 civic hatchback. also average price of importing is $12,000-$15,000+ usd!! unless you drive on the left side of the street i dont believe in rhd conversions.

EK9 has no rear window wiper

how would ppl with sunroof / (moonroof whatever...lol), go about removing it? not that iam thinking of removing mine!

i always thought cars in general without sunroofs hve a stronger chassis? hence racing models... is there any diff in structure from ek4 & ek9, as no '9' ever built with sunroof it being a race model. . . :nerv:

Would applying new roof sheet be best? or :rolleyes: applying carbon fibre roof?
