Does this seem fair?

Just thought I'd ask for some advice as I do not know what to do.
As most of you know I got Racetech to do a full turbo conversion on my ek9.
I'll just start with the things that have gone wrong.

Day 1 the car overheated and needed a head rebuild, so I paid more money on too of an already big bill.

Few months back my manifold cracked in 3 places and blew a hole in the turbo.
As stated on his website '3 year warranty on there kits if fitted by them'

But got a phone call the other day saying my turbo isn't under warranty as it's neither of our faults! Seems unfair to me. So now I have to pay in excess of another £500 to get the turbo rebuilt and remapped again.

And today I was looking over my engine, looked in the exhaust ports and my valves look like they have never been changed and iv only done a few thousand miles on them.

I paid cash for all the conversion and got no paper work to say work has been done.
I feel like I'm getting ripped off but if I don't pay my car stays off the road.

Anyone got any advice as what I should do?

Sorry if it's a pointless thread.

It's not pointless mate, if you think the jobs not done then get in touch with them ASAP

And yea with the warranty thing, why is it not covered? When it clearly says 3 years warranty

To be honest I have heard they do alot of F***ups so the customer spends more money with them to get it done right

Already spoke to him and he's saying he's not making a profit with me spending the money to fix it! Said it could he down to a manufacturing issue even thigh he rebuilds them.

Just getting to the point now I wish I didn't even get it done. Nearly £7k out of pocket in my eyes. Had to buy another car for work.

Heard nothing but good things and once work started that's when I heard the bad bits. Seen a thread on civic life of a lad with the exact same issues as me

I know of a few Glanzas he has ripped people off with too.

Yea a lot of bad things happens to alot people's cars, now people are clicking on what's going on

Ruining others cars an then charging them to fix what kind of bullshit is that? It's happened loads of times now

This is the reason I didn't take my b18 turbo to get mapped by them, I looked in to it properly first

Wow i would defiantly be asking for answers mate. If i was paying alot of money to get my car built by a company, first thing i would ask for is proof of work done, this way you can have come backs and prove to buyers that it has what you said done. Really sorry to hear this mate. Best thing to do is say you will start a group on facebook and share it around if he doesn't sort the issues out. Sooner or later this cowboy will be shut down. Really sorry to hear this mate, i hope you get it sorted asap, and dont get to much outta pocket.

Go down and speak to them in person, this is yet another bad build I've heard of being done by racetech.

Possibly look into getting your money back through a small claims court as well.

There's was a whole thread about them in the steam room on civiclife about something similar from what I can remember. Dunno if it got deleted a swept under the carpet though?

I'm fed up of questioning it all now. Won't give
Me paper work!

Don't think I'll get money back as no proof of work!

Yeah there's a thread on civic life, really don't know what to do as if I don't pay I don't get anything back so my car will be off the road even longer

I guess he didn't get receipts so garage could save 'vat+tax' or whatever they normally say. To be honest, it seems like you've been had. £7k out of pocket?

I'm not sure what else you can do, if there's no paperwork, did you take pictures of him doing the work at their garage etc?? You could maybe have a case then, but then that would cost money to go to court etc??

It's a big hit, but cut your losses and go somewhere else.

No paper work whatsoever!! Yeah it's tax evasion..
Yep 7k out of pocket and nothing but my car dumped at my house.
Spent that money thinking it would be a good job and no worries but guess not.

Iv got one or two pictures at his work but iv also got a lot of texts saying about work, couldn't be bothered with the hassle or court not to get anything back.

I would go somewhere else but I need a manifold and turbo and then to be mapped again.
Going to wait till
He phones me again and see what he says, I don't think I should pay a penny I don't think that's fair

Ok, what I suggest you do is ring the CAB (citizen advice bureau), see what advice they give you. It's always worth a shot, I would hate to be fobbed off and down £7k that's your hard earned money gone for no gain what so ever.

Don't pay nothing, you are being a mug. I wouldn't have paid him first time round as it was his work which was at fault, unless he could show that it was a manufacturing defect with the parts.

DON'T PAY A PENNY!

i wouldnt pay a penny man. thats a load of **** saying the turbo is under warranty and then charging you to fix it.

id get onto a solicitor maybe and see where u stand, try get some money back or at least your car back in a fit state

Yeah I'm going to have to ring someone about it and see what they say.

Don't think he realises that iv had to buy a second car as he never gets back to me and is slow at doing anything. Had my parts for nearly a month now

"racetech reconditioned turbo" Really hoping you get something sorted, they're not doing themselves any favours.

I don't have a good opinion of this company. I bought a turbo kit from them a few years back and at the time it took almost 6 months from time I paid until I actually received the kit. Then I discovered the "reconditioned" turbo had bits blown out of the exhaust turbine so I had to send the turbo back to them.
Another month or two waiting for turbo to be fixed and sent back to me. Very little lined up, had to make my own wastegate mounting bracket, cut intercooler pipes etc.
The turbo started smoking within two months of use, sent it back again and this time had to pay out of my own pocket to have it fixed.
In the end I sold the turbo kit off at a loss as I had no confidence in his products/work.

@OP, I would seek legal advise.

Seek legal advice, give HMRC a quick call about their book keeping as well.

I see not just me not happy with him then! I heard he use to he good, but now he's getting money he's just throwing out crap parts. Yeah I will do, sort legal advice out on Monday and go from there.

I think the whole 'no paperwork for proof' thing is just how he gets around things.
