soo my day has been ****! Good old scottish roads :( Went through a pretty much un-avoidable pothole at the back end of bearsden, was quite a tight mainroad with traffic on the otherside. It didnt feel like the worst bang but a mile down the road i started hearing a screech/grinding noise, heard it cause I always or most times drive with the window down. So got out checked nothing that I could see, Got in start driving again noise got progressively bad and knew this it was the front end. Saw nothing again, wigged about the steering about abit which was an awful creeking appeared and came across 2 cracks which were straight through the spokes. Not a happy man at all! what should I do guys ? my first thought is claim the **** out the council even though it i'll take forever to get any money out them for a new wheel. Which are no longer produced & are rare as to come across in 16" 5x114.3 :( these are very strong cast aluminium wheels, rated to 600kg per wheel that I didnt even track or abuse on the road.. was even with a 45 profile sidewall which is quite thick tyre :( mine were mint too!

Gutted!

Sue away dude not sure how long it'll take or how successful it will be but I'd be pissed too! :(

Seen another rg do this before, gutting though as chances of finding even a full set for sale are slim! Speak to Derek at ace performance in Carnwath - if it can be repaired he can do it! Had several bent and cracked wheels repaired there

Not good mate, as said sue the council. Make sure to take pictures of the the evidence before they fill the the hole.

That is **** mate. Get a good load of pictures of the pothole and wheel and shove it in the councils face. Same happened to me a few years ago, didn't crack a wheel but ****ed one of my shocks. They didn't pay out but did resurface the whole road. Looking back on it I reckon I could have done more to try and get some money out of them. Hope you get it sorted.

RG's are not forged like most high end Japanese racing wheels, but are formed using a pretty standard casting method.

Sorry to hear :(, pretty **** luck and it's not as if you can just go another too easily either.

Try claim through the cancel. A guy in essex claimed for 2 ep3 alloy wheels and a damper. essex council paid over 1100 out, was in the newspaper

Damn!! I hope you get this sorted by the council.

However ive heard (don’t know if this is 100% true), that they will not pay out if the pothole has not been previously reported. If it has been previously reported with photographs and depths etc then you would hopefully have a strong case.

I hope you win and get your wheel sorted.

You will be able to get the wheel repaired at a specialised repairer. Worth a try.

Awww mate that's bad news, hope you get something sorted though :)

That's a pretty bad crack man must have been some hole! Defo try the council, what's the worst rat can happen. The roads are a joke!

Don't get your hopes up about the council, you don't sue them directly it goes off to their insurers.

The pot hole will need to have been reported previously or noted on an inspection. If not then the council won't be liable.

I tried to claim for a broken drain cover that ripped through my tyre. Within 30minutes of reporting it the council had repaired the cover.

Sent a letter off with costs for new tyre and was told as they were not aware and it had no issues at previous inspection the council weren't liable.

are these original finish or have they been powder coated?

then again, anything can break if you hit it hard enough...

I think they are powder coated but not sure done by the guy i bought them off.

still seriously f*cked off definetly going back out there not in my car obviously & get pictures, depths.. it was a **** piece of road. I know what you guys are saying, its hard pushed to get anywhere with a claim. I just keeping thinking what if I had the window up & music playing a little louder.. the road was a national speed limit so I was doing about 50 taking it easy. Coulda been a serious one if I drove it more not knowing & they all then let go due to extra stress from the 2 spokes already cracked because of theyre horrific roads here :(
