Hi everyone,

Over the last few weeks I've noticed a rise in people posting negative and unhelpful comments on peoples threads.

Now I'm don't plan on having a pop at anyone here but posts such as "what a stupid question" and "worst post I've ever seen" aren't going to help anyone, especially with new comers to the site, in fact, they'll probably drive more people away.

It's a forum at the end of the day, which we use to share our passion and love for these cars, so lets keep it that way.

All I'm suggesting is that people be more understanding to others on the forum, and stick to helping and being constructive to one another rather than reverting to comments similar to the ones mentioned.

I hope this message is well received and this sort of negativity is kept to minimum from here on in.

yeah i agree with you . i pm'd blinx regarding this a while back but never really got much done about . just said that he doesnt have time to check in on here all the time now .

Also agree.. By someone making fun aint helping at all.. A stupid question to one person might not be the same to another.. We all are not on the same level of knowledge about cars and motoring so if you cant answer the question just dont post.. We are on here to learn and also to teach others

You are 100% correct with me been a new person to this site and people saying things like that on your post doesn't help there just questions at the end of the day if they don't like it the shouldn't say anything in the first place and keep quite!

Some people ask such stupid questions they don't deserve a decent response IMO

It might be stupid to you but to someone who knows little about cars and might only be young and only starting to learn it might not.. What harm is it to be nice and answer the question.. Its how people learn..

The question or statement about the corsa vxR was just ridiculous and pointless though. It made no sense and looked like it had been typed by a blind retard.

Funny you should bring up the whole 'constructive criticism' thing, I only just congratulated Kozy on his thread about ridiculous bhp gains on for sale ads.

I agree 100%, to unjustly criticize is unnecessary, unfriendly, and, at the end of the day only shows you up as being a dick. This is a friendly forum, I'm glad to see most of us are trying to keep it that way!!

Cheers for bringing this up

there are people who thinks they know it all on here who just belittle and makes fun of people who ask so called stupid question, also even throwing insults.

its called learning so stop being negative.

In my opinion; a silly question should always get a silly answer. A bit of banter never hurt anyone!

This can be a hard one to sort out in my eyes!

YES on most occassions its quite rude to rip into someone who is inexperienced and asking a stupid question they really dont know or really want to know.

BUT then if there wasnt the ppl here to rip into someone for there stupid question then the whole forum will soon be overrun by very short pointles questions post.

More to the point people if you realy must give rude or stupid answer to wat you think is a stupid question add ur opinion aswell and answer there question this way the newbie or person asking the stupid question will get there answer but also at the same time think twice about posting a simple stupid questions and maybe use the search function instead next time.

Im all in one for the banter were it is due but would still like to see people get the right advise.

IMO :nice:

i agree with 689r and championship white

Also boasting like "how i beat a car 200hp quicker than me" can get tiring and
only diserve a"negative" comment..
a bit of banter never hurt anyone

bear in mind this is my opinion.

I agree with above post.

Posts like this;
i know you guys dont really like aving a bit of sport on country roads but a corsa vxr tryed ti over take me the day a dropped a gear and was ot of site within 7 miles and definately ad his foot down well chuffed the guy stoped in the town and couldnt believe it wen we were speaking

Cannot deserve a serious helpful answer. This post reeks of sheer stupidity, IMO stupid and pointless threads like that one should be deleted straight away.

also the grammer is simply desperate and is hard to decipher.
looks like a 10yr old..

To look at it from another angle. Don't throw your toys out the pram and start crying when someone doesn't agree with your new modification for example. We're all entitled to our opinions, don't take it so personally.

I will never reply with a generic "yeah looks good mate" like i've seen hundreds of times on many forums, to someone who has, in my opinion, clearly ruined the looks of their car. If you can't accept negative comments in addition to the positive ones, don't post on a public forum.

Banter is indeed good.

 It was only a matter of time before someone criticising another gets criticised for the same thing...Ha... :p :nice:

Just to clarify, everyone has there opinion on this and what you guys are saying about banter and that is perfectly fine, I enjoy a bit of banter myself and I also don't want to see continuous generic posts and ones similar to the VXR one.

My aim when posting this thread wasn't to force people to tip toe around each other and only post positive comments, it was just to ask people to take into account that some people are new and some are lacking experience/knowledge etc, so bare this in mind before running off the mouth and be constructive rather than negative and unhelpful so we don't send new comers packing and give our site a bad name.

From what I gather the message has been well received, so thank you :D

Well there are stickys outlining how questions should be asked properly to avoid being ignored, and FAQs covering the most common issues, maybe if people read them instead of barging in thinking they have some revolutionary new idea then we wouldn't have this issue quite so much?

As for the VXR posts, well they're always going to turn up occasionally... :D
