Hey guys,

Just wondering how you guys route your cold air feeds into your standard airbox. I think this is how most people do it. But since there reservoir behind the driver side fender there is no where i can see for air to get in so is it not just sucking in hot ar from the top? My bumper is prefeace lift so there is no hole at the side of front bumper. What are your views and is there any othere routing alternatives? Thanks and sorry for the crude diagram :p

wow! microsoft paint lol...anyhow there are a few good threads on this with a lot of pics, check out the intake area :nice: should be a few sticky.

Yeh have looked at them and they all seem to suggest this route, as the mugen uses this route too but i just can't see how it is getting any cold air like that as there is no opening for air to get into the reservoir... would a pipe coming straight down from the box and angled forward be better?

Check out jugbugz comptech install, its on the sticky, it might give you a good idea, rvm also did a nice thread about this, i need to find and sticky it.

yeh but the problem is, with jugbugz install was on a facelift ek9 which has the hole in the bumper to allow cold air in. but my pre facelift bumper doesnt have these holes :( So whats the best way to get more cold air into the reservoir?

I haven't got my fog light hole cut out,

Theres a lot of space behind the bumper, air will find its way...

Thanks for the links blinx, but as said, they are on facelift bumpers with the hole at the side. And I dont really fancy routing the air that far over to the other side?

Tmus, i know there is alot of room there, but cant see how much air can get in cause it looks pretty enclosed to me because of the splash gaurds and the bumper...

As Tmus notes - there may be no hole but there is plenty of cold air down there. Take out the bottom resonator and just cut the pipe at the straight point - leave it like that or attach another bit of piping. Or get a Starret cutter and drill a hole in your bumper.

Bumpers interchangeable on the EK9?

Hmmm i don't fancy cutting holes in my bumper as i think i might mess up the look! But yeh, are the 2 EK9 bumpers interchangeable?

bumpers arent interchangeable, but apparently it gets the cold air from the drivers wheel arch under chassis leg, where the mugen box gets it from

air traveling through your lower front grill will make its way in to the area covered by the bumper/arch liner no problem :)

no need for a vent really.

ok cheers for all that guys, one last thing, which way should i angle the pipe in the reservoir? straight in, towards front, downwards or upwards?

Dude, its cold air down there, it may not be forced air but it is cold.
And heat rises btw so the hole at the top is not a problem :nice:

Its not air tight sealed..... its fine :)

yer i know heat rises but the feed will obviously be sucking in air so hot air could get sucked in from the top?
