Black Spoon SW388's or Volk Racing CE28N's

You are confused, Spoon makes the SW388, Rota makes the slipstream. and i say CE28n's as teh sw388's are very old now...

you think their gonna come out with a newer looked and hopefully more lightweight SW388?? Like Advan RG to RG II

Ce28n's are my vote. And the SW388's are made by Desmond, spoon has the paint job.

cause of lot of rumors that spoon rims crack,i'll go with ce28,if you notice the newer spoon projects dont use their rims but they volk instead.

Sw388 is a forged rim. I dont think this rim is easily crack unless its undergone 'heavy abuse'

i would vote for bronze ce28n for ek9 (5 holes) as the 10 spokes looks awesome.4 holes knuckle which has 8 spokes doesnt look that cool for my car (EK4) i rather go for sw388 : D

Forged doesn't matter that much. Some casting technologies are better than some forging technologies. Forged SSR type C's are notorious for bending, while the rim rolled cast Enkei RP-F1 is extremely strong. The shape of rim and where the wheel makers put more or less metal also come into play.

And the way the wheel looks should be near the bottom of the priorities list when choosing a wheel.

Serious??

i've read a lot of topics in other forums about spoon cracked rims
(dont forget spoon are the lighter 15 rims)
BUT the crack maybe was fault of the owner.
the spoon rim owners here can inform us if they had any problems.

Amen,

I'd choose based on weight, size and offset.

Wheels aren't meant just to dress up the car, they are arguably the 2nd most important part of the car, the first being your tires.:drive:

Not to mention reputation of strenth, casting/forging method, brake and caliper clearance on the inside of the wheel and spokes, how much open air space between the spokes to help cool the brakes (RG II good in this sense, steel wheel bad), and whether or not the wheel has good weight dispersion propeties across the spokes for stiffness.

For example, that's the main reason the new volk RE30 has 14 thin spokes, it can be light AND stiff with the weight dispersed throughout the circumference of the rim across many spokes.

not to forget that the RE30 is 30% more rigid than the CE28N.

Heres mine...

19 X 10

a bit of a monster for the EK lol
