After seeing some of the results on here of B18 swaps and having some tuning done i wants to have a B18 in my ek9 too! :D

But i was thinking whats the best route to go down;

--Buy a B18 from a teg (perhaps not knowing how healthy it is etc) and take the risk

--Or have the b16b stroked out and run using an aftermarket ecu (hondata Prob)
as for parts wouldnt want anything too extreme- still using the oem head.

I have no idea what method is more economical or what would give the best result.

Not afte huge whp numbers but i like the look of the numbers in certain b18 threads :secret:

Well, I'm just going for the swap. Works out cheaper I think.

Guess it is a risk with the engine, but must be a risk with any 10 year old engine..for instance when the car was bought?

With the engine coming from an Integra Type R, hopefully it was an enthusiast who kept the car serviced etc.

Its hard to find a stroker kit now, the Spoon stroker kit is discontinued and i know Toda do a stroker kit ;)

like gee said. There will be a risk, try getting form a reliable source to avoid too many problems.

The straight engine swap is definitely the cheaper route as labour charges are pretty high for a rebuild to stroke... results would be similar, although the rebuild route could prove to gain a bit more WHP i would imagine....

If you not after anything too mad, then i suggest you swap in a B18CR.

Yeah it was a dc2 engine i was thinking about and i could always sell the B16B on...

I think i'll try n get two definite prices, one for each, and see how i feel bout the whole thing.

As for a stroker kit; spoon was what i was initially thinking but after speaking to a very good tuner he explained it nothing more than rebranded honda parts

which would mean i could use honda crank and rods but if i wanted anything more 'special' i would need aftermarket pistons.

Not sure mate, i emailed the guy about it fitting, he said yes, just B18C it :drive:

honda junkie im glad you've raised this issue i was also thinking along the same lines as you regaurding buying a b18 and being unsure of its health when you know you're engines history etc.... so a stroker kit seems more of a better possibility if not more expensive :(

Tim Spoon have stopped doing the stroker kits :(

You can pick up a B18 from around £1500 to £2500 depending on year, condition, s80 gearbox included etc

Tegiwa have a mint low mileage JDM B18 for sale, a little over priced though ;)

The spoon kit is discontinued. Just these stupid companies are failing to take it of their parts lists!! Ive called around previously.

As for the TODA KIT, it says its fro the B16A. Im pretty sure it would fit stright to the B16B.... I cant confirm this though.

someone else with better knowledge will prob chip in here but i think the 16a and 16b blocks are different so the crank wont fit.

B16B has a taller block. Identical to the B18C.

So i cant see it fitting the same....

I'm 99% certain it won't fit....as above, the blocks are different heights, you can't fit a B16B crank and rods to a B16A, so I can't imagine that Toda kit will fit in both!

JUN might be a good option, never going to be cheap though!

2.2l stroke :D

It all depends on weather you can do the work yourself???
If you can do the work yourself then i would say buy a B18 crank & rod's & rebuild your engine with these part's!
My mate is selling some hear!
http://www.ek9.org/forum/sale/10339-b18-crank-rods-b16b-stroker-kit.html
Then all you would need is Ring's/bearings/seals & gasket's!
All in i would say it would cost you £600 doing it this way! (if you do the work yourself)

But if you are paying someone else to do the work then i would say the swap would be your best bet! for all the reasons stated!:nice:
I Personally just did the B18 swap as that was the best for me @ the time, plus you still have a B16B to sell to get some money back!:nice:

Buy the b18c crank then get some eagle rods and a nice set of 81.5mm wiseco pistons. Then you will be flying ! !

-Buy old B18C
-Sell B18C head for money
-use money to buy new bearings, rings, gasket kit (pistons reused if possible)
-put 16B head on freshened up B18C
-install
-tune
-drive
