Hi I have an ek9 pe facelift civic with a b16b engine but I am looking for power! I was told that if I keep my engine I could put a b18 bottom end onto my b16. I just want to know what would be the best idea as well as the cheapest:thanks:

Just keep the reliable B16B as IMO B18c seem to smoke more and spin bearings.
Dunx

u can do that , b16 is a good head that can be ported n polished, so change the bottom yeah :) all b20 are made like this b20 bottom , b16 head

Id say the cheapest route to b18 power is stroking your 16b using the 18c's rods & crank. That way if your current engine is spot on its less of a gamble than buying a 2nd hand block.

Its getting decent 2nd hand parts thats the main problme these days.

Sell your complete bare engine and buy a complete bare B18C from a crashed DC2.

I emphasize crashed because then you are under no illusions as to why the engine is for sale. Anything else will have medium to high bork potential, no matter how good it appears to be.

You can sell your engine for £500, a B18C should set you back much less than £1k if you can find one that isn't being sold by a pirate. They're old, high mileage engines now, usually smoking. Not worth anywhere near what people ask for them, so don't pay it.

stroking the B16B is a much better option since most B18C engines are abused and wouldn't be making the power it should be.

B16B is far more sorted and expensive than the B18C in Japan for this reason. Since the B16B is probably the most robust/durable engine Honda ever created

You get good and bad b16b's & b18c's

I would buy a complete Teg with a good engine and sell the rest - I did this recently but because the Teg was so good I've just kept that instead lol!
