Are people noticing performance loss using shortrams/whale p**** intakes?

Just wondering if any of you guys are genuinely noticing performance loss from using these type of intakes due to heat soak, I have a TopFuel power chamber 2 along with an airfeed, however I can't help but feel with the last two weeks of good weather the car feel's a little more sluggish and I'm thinking an enclosed intake would be better like a DC2 one even, anyone experience something similar?

Cheers

Most of us will feel a bit slower due to the temps but i have found the oem airbox set up to be a good call.

If i didnt have the mugen intake on now i would go back to oem set up with spoon elbow pipe and resonator removed.

Found the likes of AEM long track induction give terrible throttle response but good gains up top, the shorter arm variety of intakes do seem to suffer from heat soak.

Never suffered heat soak with my custom air box and cold air feed

best bang for the buck is indeed a dc2 box, just drop in a k&n filter and you are set

years ago i had a k&n just sat on the end of the inake and im sure it was sluggish on a hot day!

would a dc2 airbox fit straight on the end of a b16a intake arm or is the dc2 box slightly bigger?

Dc2 airbox, Hamp replacement filter and cd air feed, noticed a considerable difference over my carbon tegiwa whale intake.

Thanks for the input guys, the whale looks great in the bay IMO but, function over form and all that.

Now when you say this, it temps me alot! I will get some research done, might even borrow my dads intake on off his dc2 to see how I get on before buying anything.

That enclosure for the filter also looks like a good job too!

yeah thats what i thought have u found any for sale?

yeh weksos sell them, but for the kit:

Box, filter, pipe from IM etc... works out at like £250 before postage, they look like a good job.

and thats before customs and charges! how does it compare to a mugen intake? you can pic them up for about 350!

I think mine actually felt pretty good going from dc2 airbox setup to a short ram, I do run a vstack though.

my friend uses a short ram intake and indeed he feels loss after he drives my car.i have modified my oem airbox, took resonators off and have custom piping for fresh air coming from the front of the bumper.mine feels like it responses much faster than his

Some people say their car feels slower, some say faster. But the thing is, the added noise can make the car feel faster while it's actually slower. So the butt dyno is completely unreliable, especially in this case due to strong placebo effect. I have never seen a dyno in which a WAI actually made power.
