The cage is only tacked in at the moment. A master welder will be arriving during the week to thoroughly finish off the welding.
Stay tuned for more updates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:wow: cage is a beast mate !
Thanks dude! The cage is a Full Sparco FIA approved cage.
I finished welding in the side frame plates this evening. I barely used any metal at all the because the gaps were so minimal. The fitment of this cage is absolutely unreal.
I'l get more pics later in the week to show you exactly what i mean.
I'l also be fitting the new touring car regulation bars during the week before the final welding is done.

I also got myself a thin metal blank for my sunroof so i'l be tacking and welding this in tomorrow.

Great build thread dude. You'll need to get yourself a wooly hat when your welding or you'll end up bald before your time lol. Dont think half the people on here have an actual ek9. But everyones interested in a good build. Keep us updated and keep up the good work.

Okay, so i managed to put in the thin metal blank for the sunroof hole last night. Still a bit of work to do to get it looking perfect but its another job off the list nonetheless.
The final welding on the cage has also been completed and OMG, the guys welding is soo good you'd swear it was robotic!!!!
I went to the wholesalers yesterday and picked up myself a couple of litres of fresh paint so i'l be painting the Engine bay, interior and roof at the weekend.
But before that, im going to fill all the small lickle holes inside the car and fit the new perspex windows that we got.

Still so much more work to be done.
Stay tuned for engine updates next week.

Cant wait for more updates mate! Coming along so well. That cage is a great piece of kit! :D

looks like you're having great fun with this mate, very interesting reading about what you are doing.
This should be a monster when finished.. I really like those wing mirrors you got.. :))

keep the updates coming!! thanks

Cheers dude! The fitment on the cage is so amazing and precise. Once i get a proper camera i will take pics and show you some examples of the fitment. After seeing the finished product i would not reccoment any other cage than this, it is so fantastic.

Im loving every minute of it. It does help that im getting good advice from different people who have built race cars themselves in the past ;)
There is still a lot of custom work and fabrication still to do, so even after the engine is finished and mapped it will be a lengthly time before it is anywhere near completion.
I have a good plan in my head though and its slowly coming together.

I would be too.. I don't think i'd sleep lol i;d simply be out there all night..
so what are you going to use it for.... Track days?? or are you going to enter a series??

seam welding and full FIA cage says to me you are going down the latter route !! :)
i can't wait to build a car one day. Just need to gather the pennies first. !!

P.s love the lattice work of bars in the roll cage. awesome

The latter half of this year i will be doing a few trackdays. I can hopefully iron out any small issues we have then and hopefully i'l get the suspension alignment/geometry spot on.
In the off season i plan on doing some more serious mechanical work on the car which i am already looking into.
Next year the plan is to do as many trackdays as possible and also get my National B racing license which means finishing 3 races and getting my license signed by a number of fellow racers.
The following year is to make an all out assault on one of the Touring Car Series championships over here.
Im miles of that at the moment though, but thats the plan anyway.

The roll cage fabrication is the work of a genious. Looking at pictures of it is one thing, but seeing it in person you will be blown away.
I went for a full FIA cage because i think at some stage i will enter a few races in the UK or even in Mainland Europe. Entry requirements can be strict at some of the bigger circuits so i want to make sure my car will pass without failure every time.
