unfortunately these engines are not really friendly to mods, even with a turbo you will not pass 200bhp :nono: enjoy the benefits of the fuel economy and just make it look good, thats my honest advice, if you want it to be fast then a swap really is the only option or your friend will spend loads of money and be disappointed in the end.

If your used to the 75 or 90 hp of the stock d14, I'm pretty sure a small turbo setup would work just fine. You could make a setup yourself or buy one, I know Revhard have kits for this engine. I myself have had a turbo'd D-serie for 6 years now and even if its not packing huge amounts of power its still alot of fun driving it.

ironic attitude but let's really see the validity of your statement. In general a b16b engine swap costs aproximately 4000e if you are outside UK. With 4000euros you can have a complete d14 turbo set up with forged pistons and rods, a set up that can go far beyond 1bar.. If someone is clever enough and do some tricks to a d14 like swapping a sohc vtec head, custom cammed (e.g bisi custom regrinds:bow:) along with an edelbrock intake manifold and right engine management then 200whp wil come with ''minimum'' turbo pressure in relation to the pressure capacity that your enforced d14 will be able to handle.
With almost 1000kg curb weight and 200 safe whp there is not a chance for a b16b even cammed to be able to follow you. Furthermore if something goes wrong with your d14 you will be able to find a new engine for 400-500euros and start again. Imagine breaking a b16b..You have to take a loan haha...

There is the N/A road of course for a d14..The most powerful N/A d14 reaches almost 150hps and runs mid 15s 0-402m with 15inch radial tyres and stock curb weight. Just perform the mini me and run a nice cam, with obd1 chipped ecu and there you are...

What is the meaning of my post..Of course b16b is a great engine, but never underestimate a honda engine..Especially those of low capacity with extremely good road to stroke ratio...Who would imagine that d14 and b16b have the same r/s ratio hehe

a friend yea?haha:p

its a 1400cc civic?either buy a new car or do an engine swap if you want a bit of power

them 1400cc civics wouldnt pull the knickers off a brasser

thats onli 111mph my lil 1.2 corsa does that with onli a full exhaust system!

the speed he reached isnt what we are concerned with, Its how it got there, and to be fair, that wasnt too bad..... Could have been a bit faster, although was that only a 1.4?

thats not bad for a 1.4
thats what i got but i havent done anything to the engine, but if i had that as my 1st car speedwise, i'd be happy
just coz its not as good as all your b series dont put low budget cars down

guys i don't want to tell that d14 is more capable than a b16...:nono: I just want to show some guys that you can go really fast and have 30hp more with less than 800e with a d14 and other d-series as well. So if someone is budget minded there are other decent tuning ways..

The distance of this reached speed is at 900m and it hit 4rth gear rev limiter..

This is my ej9 d14a4 90stock. Now it scores 121bhp and 138nm of torque

I agree and thats what I'm doing.

My motor is not that fast, but my plan now it's to make it look good :)

Nice to hear some positive posts on d14 engines and 1.4i civic drivers. The ek9 is an amazing feat of enginering and i'm sure everyone on this site who hasn't got an ek9 one day hopes to own one of there own. Getting one isn't cheap and starting on the ladder to one by getting a 1.4 civic is a great idea. You get low insurance, good fuel economy, similar looks to a ek9 and u can still pull away from some larger engined cars. Looking at the other posts it shows you can definatly have increased performance with the car too. Theres no need for disrespectful comments as we're here looking for help and inspiration out of respect for ur cars. We all love Honda's don't we, so why don't we take the piss out of people who spend too much time in the Halfords bargin bins for there smart cars or somethin lol :p

lol 111mph is all u get in ur corsa id say give it a week n it will **** itself. dont understand wots up wit ur civic only reaching 111mph in 4th wen ive seen 125mph in 4th and still not limit. or atleast 120 most times. thanks for the info... my m8 still has the civic but just sold n bought another glanza... cant bring himself t leave honda by the looks of things lol

Are you sure thats from a 1.4litre civic? The standard gearing on the EK9 will hit 120MPH in 4th gear on the limit of 8600RPM.....

What would be the point in that from a 1.4? As it wouldnt have the power to get past 120-125MPH anyway, so what a waste of good gears and power.

dead cert its my 1.4i i done it in. 125mph n didnt limit. thats a 14 maxed out tho anythin more than that n id suggest u slow down... petrols go like fk just b4 they **** der sel's lol speakin from experience in euro trash/my old cars lol

you noticed a shorter gear ratio:drive::drive: Exactly! it is not stock d14a4 as i have swapped d14a8 gearbox. It is a perefct match for a high happy revving d14 as is it shortest and closer geared.
Have a look at my dynoplot
