Time and time again I keep hearing the same argument! Vtec is ****! No it isn't yes it is no it isn't! They ask why you think it isn't, what do you say? My come back is, you think of a manufacture that has developed one of the most powerful and reliable range of production natraly aspirated engines! About 185bhp 1.6 195bhp 1.8 220bhp 2.0 also the the f20c which has 247bhp!

It always seems to be Subaru skyline and evo drivers (a completlu differnt league)

It just winds me up and thought I would just get it off my chest lol

Most modern vehicles today use some form of "VTEC" or simply "variable valve timing". MiVEC is what is used in the Mitsubishi Evo 10....same thing....different name. Honda was the first to pioneer this technology (disclaimer: yeah I'm pretty sure...no I haven't done the research) for motor vehicles.
 
cause they all stink and just buy the thing that they know as 'fast' such as evo's subaru's ect and have no idea how an engine works! and get garages to do all they're work for them. where as i would much rather know how it works do some research and modify it in my way and make my car my own. 'built not bought' :)
 
hmm. thats why i wanna get my car.

if you can build a 10 second car and kill them, then they'll shut up =)

A friend of mine in a 2l wrx couldnt pass me out and I was in my ek9.I sat in 2nd at 6000rpm after coming over a speed ramp waiting for him to try pass me..No way could he get past me as I went to 3rd and then 4th and then he had to fall back when a bend was coming close...Pulled in at the next town and I just said your 2l turbo cant even beat a 1.6..He said out the road again but I just start laughing cause had realised his subaru was pissing water and had boiled over..That car is now blown up but I will never let him live it down..

the nissan pulsar vzr-n1 was the most powerfull 1.6 n/a out the factory at 200bhp as far as im aware, comes out the factory with nismo coilovers etc, ive worked on one and maintained one and they are amazing cars!, really quick aswell, but as far as vtec goes, yes, maybe it is over rated?, maybe it is torqueless?, but i think honda's with minimal mods handle great and the high revving engines make the car a blast to drive, streight line speed is boring tbh, vtec+ good handling chasis, and some good corners is what makes hondas so good i think, i wonder how much better or worse the b series would be if they were on cam all the time?....
 
I just tell them to STFU and overwhelm them with my technical knowledge, i ask them to give me a technical reason why there engine or car is better, they usually give some opinion based on emotion which i quickly refute as not being technical, i then give them all the technical reasons why Honda's are great cars (not better but great), my goal is not to say honda is superiour, just that they deserve respect in there own right.

Example:
My honda 1.6L 333whp at 12psi All oem internals 9000rpm all day 2240lb
My suby 2.0L 270whp at 16psi All oem internals 7200rpm 3130lb :(
My friends honda 2.0L 360whp at 12psi forged piston/rod 8500rpm all day 2250lb

You tell me which car has the more efficient engine? Now i love driving my subaru though, all cars are great cars, it just depends what your looking for.

The thing i love about hondas v's scoobies and evo's is the power to weight ratio!!! Thats what keeps it interesting aswell!

A very good example aswell is gear ratios! My stock gearing v's my mates VR6 with stock gearing power wise mine is arround 200bhp his is supercharged to 280bhp and double the torque of my B18 and weighs in at nearly a 150kg's lighter than mine now. Guess who's is quicker.... Mine!!! All down to the gear ratios!
 
mk3 golfs have the longest gear ratios known to man!

my mates 240bhp NA vr6 track car should be interesting next year with it's different final drive and quaife fitted :clap:

I like ma civic for the cool JDM parts like muh Rotas
 
life would be **** without vtec lol dude in my work has a vxr astra and tho its alot faster than my jordan i just laugh cause id much rather have my ek for the handling and the fun you get driving it.No other car on the market for the same price as a vti would give you the same pleasure driving imo

Agreed! My dad's got an Evo 4, I drive it quite regularly... It is alot faster than my EK VTi, but I find the EK more fun to drive, to be honest I feel I could corner faster in my EK, it's just absolutely planted all the time.

It seems like people are comparing their modified cars compared to stock cars. TBH if it was me I would just ignore them as you know you have a more reliable engine.
 
VTEC makes me happy and pisses off everyone around me.

just tell them how great that car is to drive... have low fuel consuption while driving slow and if i want to go fast it just screams like a beast :)) vtec sound is one of the best engine sounds...
and the redline is high... is funny to tell people that the engine is able to rev up real 9100rpm :clap:
