Just a Random thread really. Post what you do for a living but not where dont want people knowing where u work and following you home to find where ya keep your car ( Paranoid i know but crims will use any avenue presented to them ). Maybe by knowing what each other do we could help on other problems not just car related.

Me first then :secret:

Im an AutoCAD draughtsman/engineer working for a Multi disaplined engineering consultant we deal with anything from doing reports on towers to hostile vechilce mitigation for the goverment and MOD ( Ministry of defence ). Your prob wondering what Hostile vechicle mitigation is, with the threat of terrorism becoming more present this service prevents any car/van being able to deliver a payload directly to a building. There are many ways of doing this, one of the best bollards we spec ( An american company makes ) is a hydraulic bollard that will go up and down in a road and can stop a 7.5t ( 15,000 pound ) lorry/truck at 50mph and by stop i mean stop dead, pushing the engine block through the cab and into the back. Then promptly goes back into the ground asif nothing happend. So if you see any landmarks in the U.K or airports etc having major work done to the fontage chances are i designed/draughted it.

I love my job but allways wanted to be a Tunner/mechanic but hey it pays the bills. ( Plus i dont get covered in crap :nice: )

Wow thats cool to see so many others in the same game! I'm a structual engineering technician. Just got my HNC in civil engineering. :nice:

Must be the mindset of Engineers or mehcanics to buy something that is reliable, built well and is of great technical merit i mean in its day 185 BHP from a 1.6 NA even today thats sick.

from such a small engine... it makes more than 10hp/litter... rev limits are crazy 9k.... can u imagine the vibration created... parts have to be perfect!!! the are!!
