What N/A set up are you running. What gains have you seen?

I got off the phone with these guys today Torque Developments International ; Tuning / Performance Specialists / Upgrades / Power / Dyno and my new set up will soon be thanks to the credi card company

Spoon Air filter
Spoon Kevlar intake pipe
Spoon 70mm venturi TB
Skunk2 I/M
Toda Spec A cams
Toda valve spring
Toda vernier cam pullies
Greddy 4-2-1 manifold
DC decat
Spoon B pipe
Spoon N1

All running on a Hondata S300 ECU

Only questions i have are

a) What are you running and what gains have you seen?

b) I am not planning on increasing compression (for added cost) Will i still see good gains, However what gasket shall i change to if i do?

c) I was told this set up will be as good if not better than a B18 swap

Do the intake pipe yourself for a lot less. Get yourself a Teg tb and get it bored - half the cost. The rest sounds good..what are they charging for all that?! :nice:

I have some of it. They are supplying

Toda Spec A cams £660
Toda valve spring £335
Toda vernier cam pullies £133

Hondata S300 ECU £600 fitted and set up

Plus half a day to a days tuning worst case £600 or £340 for half a day. Hereckons about half a day

This is all on a B16A2.

For the parts, I always recommend customer for Jun instead of Toda for better finish quality and usable power. And the price is alot cheaper!

Yeah is abit expensive, we normally sell them for £330, S300 is not that reliable as well, I had wiring issue with them, which cause me an engine blew up at Rockingham. What not go for Power FC? If you need help, we have professional mapper who map our race cars and we can supply the Power FC for alot cheaper.

Yes he said that reliability issues with the S300 and said they supply a different ecu with OBD1 but i wasn't sure what that was called thought it was still hondata. If anyone can think of a better set up and where i can get it tuned please advise. I don't want to throw money away. If toda arn't as good please advise. I have been told to steer well clear of Skunk 2.

why dont you try keep it to one thread, might be easy to foolw
you have other threads up asking the same questions and you keep posting up different specs, why?

Cause i keep finding out new information and after a while old post begin to be ignored. After speaking to professionals today they have pointed me in this direction and i have more questions. As i'm no expert. I know basics. If the posts are a problem then please delete old post. :nice:

ah ok,but would it not be better to speak to your tuner in depth seeing as he will be mapping etc,if he knows your car he should know whats best for it:nice:

Dixon, mapper you are talking about is Mase?

and how much can you get a Power FC? and how much does it cost to tune?

PM me if you like.

thanks

I'm quite an untrusting person and like to get an idea on other peoples views to understand wether i'm being given correct information.

I value your advice and many others on this forum. And appreciate everyones time. I also understand it can be quite frustrating dealing with people like myself but i'm just trying to build a car that is fast and been done properly with good quality parts. For example. My previous car was a bit fast and furious. EG6 with big wheels, bodykit, and mainly EBAY parts. I have learn't the error of my ways through this forum and southwestcivics. Now i am to build a quality car.

I just really want these questions answered.

a) What will i see with this setup in your opinion?

b) I am not planning on increasing compression (for added cost) Will i still see good gains, However what gasket shall i change to if i do? Thickness wise?

c) I was told this set up will be as good if not better than a B18 swap what do you make of that? True or utter bullshit?

firstly what bhp has your car made on the rollers before the mods you plan to carry out?

depends on how healthy the car is before mods are made:nice:

At powerstation it made 182bhp. Maybe a bit optimistic.

At fortune it made 152bhp?? This fiigure i do not believe was right and the tuner used 3rd gear as appose to 4th??? All other B16A2 made similar power on the same rollers so i do not class my car as unhealthy.

My car has a very healthy torque curve. Compared with other B16A2 and some Type R's

No is not Mase, I found someone better and cost only half.

ijwhiteman - if you want professional advice please email me on info@dixoncheng.com or just PM me on the forum, we do race car preparation and consultancy for race team.

Also just a quick note, forget the Greddy manifold. They are rubbish, Greddy manifold only good for Turbo car, they are very crap at NA.

Already fitted to the car. :nono:

I'm not after a race tune just a fast road car with a more aggressive VTEC. And a higher RPM

dixon, what average torque does your setup make and whats your rev limit ?

I have 145 ft/lb of torque at the wheels, rev limit set to 9500rpm only with this new engine as we want this to last until end of this season.

Greddy manifold is very similar to JDM 98 spec manifold, in fact if you put the 98 spec manifold on you will get more power from it. If you pay £100-150 more, you can get yourself a Mugen 4-1 or Toda manifold which you can get proper gain from.
